Diesel generators provide standby power in a lot of homes and business settings. It is the most widely-used standby alternative in high-power consuming operations in Nigeria. Industrial complexes, Shopping centers, hotels and telecommunications operators heavily rely on diesel-powered generator sets.

Regardless of the variety of brands, they are basically designed to have the engine component and the alternator parts. The engine of a diesel generator just like any other internal combustion engine with cylinders housing pistons whish are connected to the crankshaft through connecting rods.

I have a video that shows the repair of a diesel engine referred to as overhauling. This video shows the procedure of overhauling a diesel generator. It highlights the cleaning of the engine surface, cleaning of the cylinder surface to remove carbon , removal of carbon from piston grooves and cleaning of the journal to minimize friction. It also shows the fixing of the top gasket and driving of the pistons into the cylinders.
