I am not happy here, after putting in all my best in job interview for a PA role in one of the big four accounting firm, i was successful in the first stage I did in Nigeria, the final interview was in uk , I was asked the same questions which I knew I did well, just for me to receive a regret mail that I was unsuccessful, I keep asking my self what went wrong, is it because I don't have UK experience? I put in my best and have years of experience in the role. What went wrong ( feeling so sad). I need advice please.

What can I do to get adminstrative jobs in the UK, honestly I have been applying. I know the job that I can easily get is care work, but I don't really like it. Please I need advice to stand my feet in this UK what best to start doing.

Just need advice to be strong in this UK.

Please if there is anybody living in Northampton kindly let me know, I am really feeling alone here.

Many thanks

PA role in the UK is very subjective depending on who your boss is.
The PA knows everything about the boss even stuff his wife doesn’t know, they book all his flights, business meetings, has access to his credit cards and accounts in some cases. Even books his family holidays, etc

That’s what I meant by being subjective and it also depends on the organisation.

Keep trying don’t give up , you can also try for a lower position just to get your feet in the door, then once you have brushed up and acclimatised to the British culture then you can then go for the big role.

Don’t feel bad bro, it’s part of the experience. You shld call them back to get feedback from the interview. They will tell you what you did well and where you didn’t do so well so you improve and use that in other interviews you attend. It could also be that they preferred someone who has been in the UK longer than yourself. Don’t give up and keep trying, you will get there soon

Good evening guys.

Has anyone here ever done Certificate & English proficiency verification via ECCTIS? ( Formerly NARIC)

How is the transcript submitted to them? From what I see on their website, it appears the candidate has to have a copy of the transcript...and I know this is unlikely for Nigerian schools....
Anyone know anything about this?
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Estroller: 10:39pm On Jan 26, 2022
Student copy should suffice, it will be be sent directly to you or you get someone to pick up on your behalf and send to you. Alternatively, you can apply for the official copy using a corporate address of someone you know who can subsequently send it over to you.

Good to know it is sorted now.

Cash for grabs

For those not yet on PayPal

You can sign up using this link and you get £10 when you spend £5 https://py.pl/gaNlT

Also for anyone looking to snatch up some £££. There are a variety of traditional banks offering hundreds of pounds to switch to them.

Note, you may have to have 2direct debits(dd) to qualify for the switch or pay in some minimum amounts.

For the HSBC advance account, you only need to pay in £1500+ initially to qualify for the £150 switch offer and if you don't have 2 dd, you can set up standing orders with your current bank account to qualify.

For anyone wanting to take up the HSBC advance account switch offer, Act now! the switch offer ends on Friday 28/01! It is only this account that does not require dd only (you can use standing orders) so if you want to take it on, do so by tomorrow.

You can use a student copy transcript which you should be able to get from your school.

Hi Osoderi,

First, give yourself a pat on the back for coming this far and always listen to your "inner coach" , not your "inner critic".
There's always something to learn from an interview experience.

When you get their feedback, look through it and if there's an area/part you supposedly scored low, develop on it and use that to prepare for your next interview.

Admin jobs are usually competitive and one would need to demonstrate one's knowledge /skill with practical examples similar to what they expect of you on the job. Your qualification should also give you an edge - I suppose what you have is higher than what they're asking for sef right? (Most typically ask for GCSE or A-Level, depending on the organisation)

Maybe they had an internal candidate who's already used to the system or even previously worked with the boss in a different capacity, or they had another strong candidate coming from a previous role within the UK and was also able to knock the interview out of the park.
Either way, I have no doubt you were a strong candidate for you to have made it to the final stage.

You could also start looking at lesser-known firms: It might be a lot easier to get a job with those... get your UK experience there, and then reapply to the big four.

Keep at it! Wishing you God's best.

Hi,

I applied for a visitors visa for a relative, it's now ready for collection, but the queue and stress involved is unwarranted. We sent a rep yesterday but he wasn't given. Please does anyone know how I can apply for passport return by courier at this stage? Is it possible?

My cursive search on the TLS website tends towards being able to apply for courier service only during the initial application.

Thanks for all you do on this page!

There is a queue for collection? I have never experienced that before. Usually takes less than 15mins...
The applicant has to go by himself/herself. Courier is only an option before submission.

Seeing the word "chaos ", it is safe to assume you're talking about the queue outside. If that is so, you don't have to be on the queue, just tell them collection they'll allow you in. It's almost impossible to have a chaotic queue at collection.

I hear you, nothing is normal with TLS at the moment. I am giving you real time report as at yesterday, 26/01/2022. My bro was there for 4hours yet no headway.

This is an application that was done since first week of Nov.

Collection of passport is usually from 2 or 3pm or so.. How come he was there for hours? Is he trying to go in with the people submitting in the morning?

Was this waiting outside the gate or at the collection point?
Just that we're not hearing from the person that had the experience so the story may have be watered-down.
