How Do Christians Explain Mark 4:10-12? by AntiChristian: 12:43pm On Aug 27, 2021 |
When he (Jesus) was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that," 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!' Mark 4:10-12 How is this verse explained in relation to John 16:25? "Though I have been speaking figuratively (paroimia), a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. John 16:25 Why wasn't Jesus speaking in a normal and clear way all the time? Why did Jesus then go and say that he won't 'use this kind of language'? 1 Like 1 Share |

illicit: The verses does not say these. He was explaining the things to his disciples but not the public. It seems he doesn't wish people to be saved. He wants then to hear and not understand. He doesn't want them to turn and be forgiven! 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!' |

Not like he wasn't speaking clearly by using parables, rather he used parables to paint a clear picture of what his relationship with God the Father and the kingdom of God looks like and what it's all about. As mere saying it may not really be clear or well taken in by his followers. Now, when he told them, a time will come when he'll no longer use parables. hes simply reffering to that time when they ( including us the saints) shall have been raptured and reigning with him. In other words, theyll now experience all he's been saying in parables before, life and direct. Hence there won't be need for anymore parables. |
