@poster, don't just start with layers (if you don't know about poultry). They are very fragile. You can raise broiler or cockrel
Am talking from experience

layers are more stressful to rear but the beauty of it is a daily income from selling eggs for 12-15 months.
A healthy layer will lay an egg daily.
If they are in constant good health, they can lay consistently for 12-15 months.
At the end of the laying period, you will sell the bird for N900.00 during xmas.
Broiler farming is also good and has a steady demand, less stressful than layers but risky too.There are 3 major issues that affect broilers,that can wipe them out, and once the farmer can overcome them,all will be well.
Poultry is one of the most viable small biz for Nigerians but requires good planning. its not wise to just dabble into it.

Poultry farming is the practice of raising domesticated birds such as chicken, turkey, ducks, quails and geese, as a sub-category of animal husbandry for the purpose of farming meat or eggs for food.
