Goldbw122:No mystery there, the British are thieves. They always documents every invasion they made in the past and the number of loots they stole. So it's very much easier to return to the true owners.

This is one of the unreasonable excuses of yahoo yahoo boys, the British stole the artifacts by force when they invaded our land and they are still adamant to come clean on the matter. 1 Like |

Reason why I am not against Yahoo boys scamming these white morons. Until the West pays reparations to Africa I'm all for any black man that can scam the blue thunder out of them. |

If you see the dilapidated buildings in the National Museum and National Gallery of Arts in Lagos, you will not want the Nigerian artworks in foreign museums to be returned to Nigeria. Because, Nigerians cannot preserve our artworks. They are better preserved and safer in American and European art galleries and museums. My masterpiece of painting, "Blessed Mother" I made live in the Education Unit of the National Museum in Onikan on the Lagos Island was later missing from the museum and never found till date. Some of my colourful illustrations were missing at the UNICEF in Nigeria in 1988 and not found till date. Nigerians cannot preserve our artworks. 1 Like |

Be careful of the psycho attack in what you're reading. Note that the article itself is against returning the artefacts. It's simply orchestrating you to a mindset that it's not a good idea returning the artefacts. That's how Britain commit wider fraud on their former colonies. Check out www.africason.com for articles to give you a clue how to set yourself free from their mind control gimmicks. 2 Likes 1 Share |

To me, it should be about which would pay us more as a country. Would keeping the bronzes here generate revenues as well as leaving them in Europe where people are willing to pay for viewing them? If a deal can be made with the European hosts to pay for keeping our artifacts then we should consider allowing them keep them for specified periods. After all, how many Nigerians are willing to pay to visit museums to see artifacts? 1 Like |

In my opinion till nigeria builds a world class museum they should remain in europe Infact if I have the opportunity I'll return those that have been returned to nigeria Most of this artifacts ends up with the royal family which kills the purpose of them getting it back so nigerians can learn about their culture without traveling to europe |

HedwigesMaduro:Don't kid yourself brother, African failure is not due to the West; it is due to the pathetic nature of the black people. Yes, black people have a pathetic, nature: destructive selfishness. That is why African nations cannot prosper. Even if the west pays reparations in trillions of dollars, it would not make black Africa prosper. This is because black people are inherently more selfish and lazy than white people. That's the bitter truth we have to admit to if we are to change our destiny as a race. |

The artifacts belongs to the Oba of Benins, not the Idus Igodomigodo or the Esans. Most of the artifacts especially the heads carved ones are replicans of the previous heads of Oba of Benin and British stole those artifacts from the palace. 1 Like |

Sonnobax15: No, Not all the so called Bini artefacts originally belonged to to Benin. Bini was a kingdom conquering , enslaving and annexing many towns and plundering such towns just like the British. Many of those artefacts where plundered and seized from Ishan lands, Ika lands, Urhobo lands, Aniocha lands etc |

I feel a smarter move would be to let the British keep them while we both agree to a sharing formula from revenue generated therefrom. 2 Likes |

In 1977, when the Nigerian government asked the British Museum for the loan of an ivory mask depicting Queen Idia, mother to the legendary Oba Esigie (1504-50), they were rebuffed on the grounds that it would be subject to different climatic conditions and much greater humidity. So the climatic conditions in which they were made is now not good enough to take them back. When Oyinbo wants to scam you ehn they will speak tongue in cheek 1 Like |
