8 tips to become a successful fashion designer.


Fashion designing is a profession that people believe they don't need to study for or be trained formerly even though they are attracted at an early age. To be a successful fashion designer, there are few key points to note which will be summarized into the following points:

1) Get educational training both for knowledge and credibility to your resumes. Talents is not enough. Though
you need to have some natural skills but you still need a professional developmental training in the career of fashion. Skills such as: having a good sense of style, creativity, an eye for colour and shape, drawing and presentation skills, strong marketing and sales skills, pattern making and illustration, cutting and sewing, being observant, trendy and informed always, knowing how to create and maintain relationships et.c.

2) Get a mentor or coach.
You need to get someone who has failed and succeeded to teach you ways to succeed without having to go through the failures in reality. Learn from their mistakes and probably work with them, read their books, attend seminars and trainings they organize. You'll be able to grow faster and better as you rise on your mentor's shoulders.
3) Build an impressive portfolio and this is a great way to show your strengths, skills and perfessnalism. Sketch your designs in a professional standard i.e a stellar portfolio. Learn on YouTube, Coursera, skillshare et.c. Stay focus and updated.
4) Learn to network.
It's said that your network is directly proportional to your net worth. Relationship is a currency! Who you know or who likes you in this life matters a lot. Those who crown kings don't look like kings and may never become king but they can help you wear the crown. Never despise anyone. We are social beings; therefore learn to relate with people in gatherings.
5) Learn and understand the business. Fashion designing and fashion business are two entirely different things. It's a pity that your talent isn't enough for you to succeed in a business. It's important to be get hands-on training and understanding of business strategies and mechanisms for growth and success. Write your business plan, know your economics, know how to negotiate contacts, how to collaborate or pick a business partner and lots more.
6) Be focused and stay updated.
Achieving ones dreams in life is definitely not an easy goal. It takes persistence, consistence, focus, dedication, commitment and so on. There will be challenges, troubles, stress and illness, inside and outside pressures et.c. There might be days you will not want to stand up or work, remain strong and never give up. Push yourself up and go for your dreams until you reach your goals.
7) Get a good internship program. It's not necessary about how big the company is, it's about the valuable opportunities and experience you get. It's not just necessary to learn how to network with company CEOs but with clients and work mates also.
Get more certifications. Diploma and Bachelor's degree courses. Study more or take masters degree on fashion designing and the business. Take courses in Philosophy of Arts, photography and fashion, drawing and painting, Business management et.c
