If you want to build a brand online, resist the temptation of buying a page, or followers.

I see some people getting such offers, this morning's prompted me to write about it especially in the real estate space.



Buying a page means you will be dealing with total strangers who do not know you or why and how they follow you in the first place.

It will be difficult to convert them, most times, you end up losing such followers.

This is why Sometimes you see a Realtor with Just 2k or 1k followers winning Top Selling Realtor and you see someone with 13k or 10k Followers hardly making So Much Sales or getting engagement.

Most times, such pages or followers are not your ideal customers, how do you want to speak their language or build a connection?

Sharing your story will not even cut it.
Sometimes, the page may comprise of oyinbos ( White People from Another Country ) or spammers who do not need your service.

Can you sell Land or House to a White Man living in Europe or America who will never travel to Nigeria in his lifetime.

How do you sell to followers or Robots on a page or Spammers you bought as followers.

Let me use this story to send the message home.

A lady who recently deactivated her IG animation page.

This was not because I didn't make money from it, but because I have other areas of focus for now.

The page has 85% of men from different walks of life.
Imagine buying such page to sell adult toys or human hair.

Do you think they will buy?
They followed for the sole reason of learning animation and editing.
They engage because they are drawn to art.

They are not interested in fashion, most will end up unfollowing if they wake up to check Instagram and find a hair page on their timeline, or leave it but not engage with your content.

This applies also to real estate business also.

You may be offered a page of people who are based in Another Country or bots or people who are not your target audience only to discover sales doesn't equal to huge followers especially when most of the followers are not interested in your services or products.

Do not build your online business on a weak foundation.

Build a tribe of people who are interested in what you do.

Find your ideal customers online and you would always make sales.

Slow and steady, you will get to 10K followers.
Besides, you can still make money with 500 followers or less.

There’s a huge difference between an Instagram account having fake and legitimate followers.
