^^^ there could be poor management of these schools and not necessarily that they must beg and be nuissance to society. the gov't should actually check this phenomenom.

this is a really sad narrative and should be a wake up call for muslims, hausas and no hausas and nigerians in general e.t.c. in the past when incidents occured where the almajiris in concert with foreigners ran amok killing and destroying properties i have always stated that they are as much victims as those killed and displaced from their houses.

the problem of almajiris have been around for decades yet sucessive governments both federal and state have not deemed it fit to do anything about it
apart from this, the so called elder states men who are of northern stock ,northern traditional leaders too have conveniently ignored this malaise and we all expect them to continue wallowing in poverty gently without any negative reactions.

nigerians in general should begin to take their social responsibility seriously and extend a hand to help, educate these children we complain from now till tomorrow but none of us will take the step to actually foster, adopt or help any of them out in any way we can .
so called nigerian youth co-ordinators went to wine and dine with good luck jonathan, but im sure no one even though this serious enough to warrant a mention.any problem we keep on glossing over and covering up will not disappear but keep on festering and getting worse, these children must be shown a sense of belonging

we must begin to change their mind set, enlighten and educate them
habour them and they and all of us will be the better for it,no almajiri will eat sleep in your house and be shown love and then join anyone to burn houses or kill people these are the actions of ppl who have no hope and who areangry with everybody.

if this has a cultural or religious background, then public enlightenment, gingles on radio/TV encouraging the end of such beliefs or mis-conceptions, and spelling the alternative (better structured education) with the projected benefits could be a starting point. Hoping they won't send bombs/bokoharam cheesy on the those proposing the solutions

Very sad situation for the Almajiris. Not a pleasant experience seeing them in that condition while i was schooling in Kano.

That is why the average northern parent is against the child care act! They will rather train almajiris who they can use at anytime. That is why the girls are also given out in marriage at the age of ten

Is is the almajiris that wreck havoc? Ask the Niger Delta miscreants, my president inclusive. If you can rehabilitate the Niger Deltians, why not the almajiris, are they not Nigerians? I assure you these are the breeds that will not disappoint the country if sent abroad for skill improvement. They will not be sent back for any atrocity. Check!!!

@NATLIL. Never say what you dont know. The Qur'an never supports laziness, even prophet muhammad {peace be upon him} was a merchant/businessman during his time. Islamically, this almajiri thing is being abused due to the poverty in Nigeria because they hardly learn much, they just drop out of the school and become something else.
