In 175 Years, We've Impacted Nigerian Society — Presbyterian Priest Rev. Nduka by Metrix147: 8:46am On Sep 20, 2021
A Presbyterian Church of Nigeria priest, Rt Rev (Dr) Ikechukwu Nduka, has said in the past 175 years when the Church came into the country, it has made a significant impact in the development of the society, ABN TV reports.

Describing it as the third Church that came into the country after the Methodist Church and Anglican Church of Nigeria, the clergy who was a Guest Speaker at the South Central Synod 175 years Anniversary at St Peter's Parish Umuahia on Sunday stated that the church has maintained honesty and integrity.

He said at a time the country was segmented into three among the three first churches, Presbyterian Church maintained the areas allotted to it while other churches began to go against the agreement.

According to Rev. Nduka, when talks were ongoing for there to be a unified church instead of different churches, Presbyterian Church also demonstrated faithfulness to that discussion while one of the parties pulled out, leading to a collapse of the unification talks

He said Presbyterian Church formed an alliance with Methodist Church and Anglican to establish the Trinity College.

He said the three churches were together working as one entity in unity at the Unity College.

He said the College maintained a high level of discipline which made it one of the leading colleges in the country.

He expressed gratitude to Presbyterian Church for taking up scholarship programmes which he and others benefitted from in the Trinity College despite the role the church played in founding the school.
