FG Declares Friday Public Holiday To Mark 61st Independence Celebration by Nobody: 5:50pm On Sep 29, 2021
The Federal Government has declared Friday, October 1, as public holiday to mark the Nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary Celebration.

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Nigerians on this year’s Celebration of the Country’s 61st independence and assured Nigerians of Government’s

commitment to tackle and eradicate all forms of challenges –be it political socio-economic and all diverse problems.

Aregbeola said: “Our warmth, welcoming spirit and love as well as the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, make Nigeria unarguably the leading black nation in the world and Africa’s pride and beacon of hope if we can rally ourselves together to harness our potentials.

“A country of about 200 million and above people whose natural talent, grit and passion glitter like the precious DIAMOND that we are. Nigerians are sparkling like diamonds in the pack, whether in Academia, Business, Innovation, Music, Movie, Entertainment, Fashion and culture.

” We are indeed the leading black nation in the entire world and no doubt Africa’s pride and beacon of hope,” Aregbesola said.

The Minister in a statement by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore, confirmed that, celebrating Nigeria’s 61 Independence Anniversary was necessary, but that the safety of the Citizenry is “Mr President’s huge concern, especially with COVID-19 third Delta variance still in place.”

He added that this was one of the reasons why this year’s celebration is being held without the usual pomp and pageantry.

While wishing Nigerians a fruitful independence celebration, he reminded them of the fact that the founding fathers, in spite of the differences in faith, tribe and tongue came together for Nigeria’s independence.

He, therefore, called on all Nigerians to join hands together with the present Administration in its quest to ensure a better Nigeria for all citizens, both at home and abroad as this, he said, shall be a befitting tribute to the struggles of our heroes past.

“We must together make Nigeria great,” Aregbesola said.

They want to celebrate independence with all the killings and blood shed going on in the country

The president should declare 3 days of national mourning in honour of all the fallen heroes and innocent women and kids that lost their lives in the hands of Fulani herdsmen and bandits

This Independence celebration is just for those active in government nothing more nothing less..

The ones proud of the flag are still the same ones in government.

For those on the street na long tin.

Hungry citizens wouldn't care about it.

Gone are the days when our parents will buy chicken and half bag of rice to celebrate October 1st, hoping that one day Naija will become a better place to live in.

Now all hopes has gone to the dogs.

A country of about 200 million and above people whose natural talent, grit and passion glitter like the precious DIAMOND that we are. Nigerians are sparkling like diamonds in the pack, whether in Academia, Business, Innovation, Music, Movie, Entertainment, Fashion and culture.
We are indeed the leading black nation in the entire world and no doubt Africa’s pride and beacon of hope.

For all its political and economic troubles, Nigerians are somehow still among the most optimistic and happy people on the planet.
Opportunity doesn't come knocking -- we chase it, with the help of God, who we all know is on our side.

The Lord may have rested on the seventh day of Earth's creation, but that's the last day off he's enjoyed ever since.
Nigerians call upon Him 24/7, praying and pumping fists and demanding His favors.

Evidence of our optimistic spirit lies everywhere: It's in the billboards that promise "a divine upgrade", or our hustling entrepreneurial spirit, or the crumbling roadside shacks grandly named "Victory Plaza." There's no room for despair when we see ourselves as "temporarily embarrassed millionaires" (to quote Steinbeck) on the expressway to heaven.

So next time a Nigerian tells you "I will become the greatest by force!" understand that they're not bragging -- they're just speaking their dreams into existence.

May God make our Nation the Great and Beautiful Country she was created to be.
God bless all sane, good, responsible, sensible, honest and hardworking Nigerians.
God bless Nigeria .

A National day of mourning instead.

What Independence do you expect those that lost loved one to terrorists in Benue and Southern Kaduna to celebrate?

We love Nigerians.
Nigerians love a good proverb and we never stop inventing new ones.
Some aphorisms are blunt and to-the-point. Others can be a little cryptic, so you sometimes need a high level of "proverbial sense" to understand what they're getting at:

"Monkey no fine but im mama no like am [The monkey might be ugly but his mother loves him]."

"If you can't dance well, you'd better not get up."

"The man being carried does not realize how far away the town really is."

"The quarrel that doesn't concern you is pleasant to hear about."

"The whip hits at the legs, not the guilt."

"Until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunters."

"The one-eyed man does not thank God until he sees a blind man."

"Rat wey get only one hole, they quick die [A rat with just one hole will soon die]."
"After God, fear woman."
"No license for nonsense [behave yourself]."
"No business, no wife."
"Keke [motorized tricycle] today, private jet tomorrow.

Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime.
God bless Nigeria.
