IPOB Women Begin 3-day Mega Rally In London by bobobyte: 2:17am On Oct 01, 2021 |
Some female members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) based in London, United Kingdom have begun a three-day “mega rally” to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the pro-Biafra group. In a video posted by a Twitter user, @Emekannaoma, the women are seen calling for the release of the embattled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). “IPOB women #FreeNnamdiKanu 3 days London mega rally. They are calling for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the leader of IPOB who was abducted in Kenya by the Nigerian government with the help of the Kenyan government, extraordinary renditioned to Nigeria against his will,” she posted. Displaying placards that bear various inscriptions, the women who are mostly in pink T-shirts saying, ‘Free Nnamdi Kanu’, are seen waving the Biafran flag and raising pictures of Kanu. They also chanted what they termed their “ritual” amidst intermittent jingling of bells. In June, the IPOB leader was arrested in Kenya and extradited to Nigeria to face charges bordering on treasonable felony, among others. This was instituted against him by the Nigerian government because of his agitation for the Republic of Biafra. He was subsequently arraigned and brought before Binta Nyako, a Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who asked him to be remanded at the DSS custody. He was granted bail in April 2017 on health grounds but skipped bail after his home was attacked, saying his life was not safe. On July 26, Justice Nyako adjourned his trial till October 21, owing to the failure of the Nigerian government to produce him in court. In August, IPOB announced the enforcement of a lockdown in the South-East on days Kanu is to appear in court. The initial directive was for the sit-at-home to hold on Mondays but that was later reviewed and suspended. http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/30/ipob-women-begin-3-day-mega-rally-london-streets-demand-nnamdi-kanu%E2%80%99s-release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKgGhh9jGfk
