Should The Imminent Gang Up Against Asiwaju Tinubu Triumph? By Rotimi Makinde by SojWORLDWIDE(m): 2:19am On Oct 02, 2021
Barring last minute change, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos state and the national leader of Apc is likely to contest for presidency come 2023.

He is in all standard eminently qualified and possesses one of the best prerequisite qualifications in yoruba land. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has not only paid his dues politically, he remains one of the few committed Nigerians with great passion to ensure all those desirable good things the populace so deserve. His singular role in the coming of the present government can not be overemphasised.
He is a game changer and a grassroot politician of high calibre and of international standard whose wealth of experience is unparalleled especially in South Western part of the country...
The man, Asiwaju have friends, admirers and followers accross the nation but this is not to say he doesn't have critics, haters or those who will not mind to die than for him to assume leadership position as president of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

The funny thing however is the fact that this class includes those he made and his tribe or lieutenants. This is the dynamic nature of politics itself, it is ever funny and most times unpredictable. There is no moral value at all in it to make one forclose or predict that children of the same womb would not seek each others' throat in the name of ambition !
.The beauty of democracy is ever multi dimension in nature and opportunities that usually avail the people to make a choice among multiple variables. Nevertheless, methinks it is in the overall best interest of the South to seek that power rotate and change hands to South from the North as presently constituted, only in that would we be seen to be fair to one another as a nation.
Toensure this is done is definitely not going to be an easy task but I believe it is a doable project if the South speaks with one united voice. In the front banner of likely gladiators in South west is Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who despite his good credentials have pocket of known hostility that need attention.

Personally this writer can summarise few of these that requires attention as follows;
Misinformation conflicts, value conflicts, ambition or interest conflicts, personal relationship conflicts, and political party structural conflicts all of which in my mind are resolvable .
The consequences of our not walking towards 2023 in unity means not functioning in accordance to the will of our forefathers,as the bail out for our people and a playback of the perpetual scars of yesteryears..
Power is not served alakine, its therefore good to note that its not the perogative right of the south or south west to produce the next president,it has to be contested for hence we must be wary of the usual Divide and Rule tactics that would be applied maximally by those who would naturally fear for the coming of any son or daughter of Oduduwa known for efficiency.

We are probably the tribe who could rescue the present situation of Nigeria of today. We are not religiously biased and forever fair in nature when the issues is about this entity called Nigeria or distribution of wealth .Asiwaju is our best choice. This among other other things is recognised as our attributes and so they would prefer the anointed weak in nature among us and so what we lost in Late Awolowo,in MKO may be our portion.God forbid.
As a critical stakeholder and member of Swaga a voluntary and self sponsored group routing for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,We’ve done a whip count of our region ,
And we are confident that there are not sufficient votes to bring down the popularity and acceptability of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and without exaggeration he with pocket of some reconciliation here and there he stands a better chance than many others in South west.

cool

Sentiments apart Present anyone more qualified, in terms of academic qualifications, business life, career, fight for democracy / activism, grooming of leaders and protege,

In 2014 he spent billions of naira on all of his party candidate North to South, and ambition, and he only wanted to be Vice President, everyone complained that he is a Muslim and should step down, not only did he selflessly step down for Pastor Osinbajo, he gave him full support financial and political, and he never interfered in his governance

Truly Asiwaju is a great leader with focus but in all sincerity it's only greediness that will make him contest for next president. Leadership is ability to believe and allow others with unquestionable character to lead. BAT should support a more vibrant and agile candidate. Health and age aren't on his side anymore.

South east make noise most but their votes are inconsequential. Hausa/Fulani would rather vote for Gunmi the leader of Bandits to become president than one infidel from the land of slaughtering policemen

The writer is trying to be smart...but ended up exposing his myopia.

He talked fairness in his argument for zoning the office of the president to the south and ended up throwing the Tinubu up as the best person. So, the South Easterners asking for an opportunity don't deserve this kind of fairness...he even had the effrontery to ask that the whole of South should speak with one voice just so that Tinubu can be president because he is a "grassroot politicians" (my foot).

The easy is the worst I have read in the last two decades. I don't think this write up would impress Tinubu himself.

Sorry the SS and SE will never support the SW for president in 2023. There needs to be fairness in the South. Iam from SS we have had the presidency, the SW has had the presidency for 8 years and VP for 8 years. The SE has had neither. This is simply not fair. If we are fair and truly want a united south, then th SS and SW should support the SE.

You are an hypocritic. Even in your state, there's a particular senatorial district which never produces Governor since inception.
Power isn't handed to a particular region, SE should be more tactical and dynamic in there way. I can assure you they may likely clinged the power after 8yrs of Southwest and 8yrs of power return to north. Even Tinubu himself have been nurturing president since he was governor even before he concluded his administration. Nigeria presidency is a long term planning and strategizing . It requires know how not just propaganda
From my calculation, SE should work towards next 16yrs. This is bitter truth and most people will disagree with me.
Let's just wait and see.

Going by your logic, the CV votes of South West is inconsequential also. Until the incompetent government of APC was elected into power, other regions determined who became president. SW supported the parties that lost until 2015 elections. Meanwhile, it is illogical to believe that someone that cannot had power to your kinsman to act for few days/weeks will willingly handover power to his mentor for 4 years"...you must be in a dream dreaming.
