Do You Love Your Job? by Nobody: 9:56am On Oct 11, 2021
How many people actually love their job? To be honest, my job isn't so stressful, the pay is good and there is job security. I've worked there for over a decade but I'm still not happy going there every morning.
I don't feel fulfilled. Actually, I admire those who work for themselves, who work at their own pace. Anyway, the question remains, how many people are actually happy doing what they do? I'd love to hear.

To be honest, I sometimes feel ungrateful for not liking my job. It's a job most people pray for. But that's life, sometimes you don't like what you don't like. At this point, I wouldn't even want to work for any organization again, even with a million pay monthly.

Sometimes, you just want to dedicate your time and effort to your own thing. The greatest thing holding me back is fear of the unknown. Leaving your comfort zone and then finding you made a terrible mistake. This is what keeps most people working for decades without being fulfilled.

It'll definitely get better.

Bakery is one of the best businesses to own.
Don't see your job as just a job, see it as an opportunity to learn how to start and run your own, while still getting paid.

If I may ask; do you hate bread? cheesy

Sir, it's normal to feel the way you feeling. It shows you are human afterall. What I see causing the unhappiness for you is the inability to have control over your life and time. It's like the act of obeying orders and living to fulfil someone else's dream is the rationale behind your complaint.

Yes, you are right, your job is someone else dream, but the reality is, if such dream become reality for that person, he or she would at some point also crave for something different and better just as the way you are now, it's nature, it's life.

Meanwhile, we all cannot be our own boss, some were destined to work under people till they depart this earth. Being an employee might just be what work for you, so leaving it to be your own boss or start your own thing might bring regret, yet you could still play safe by starting an hustle on the side, maybe putting someone to manage it for you (getting a trustworthy individual might be challenging too), then after testing the water to see it potential, then you might choose to quit your job and go fully into what make you happy. All in all, everything in life is based on luck and destiny.

Nice analogy, I agree.

You just described me cheesy, I feel the exact same way you do, you are not alone! Especially on the bit about feeling unfulfilled.

What I want more than anything else is the freedom of time, I want to gain freedom over how I spend my days.

I also want to start working and earning online (legit work) without leaving the comfort of my home, while I determine the number of hours I work each day.
We're many with this dream. Sadly, people hardly get what they want.

Lol, funny but true.

It's a burning desire within and a driving force for me, I really want to make it happen.

I recognize I may need to re-skill, it would have been a reality for me already, if not for these stupid yahoo boys who have given us a really bad rep.

I keep losing out on remote work opportunities (I don't even need to re-skill for) because once they see my location is Nigeria or my IP address shows Nigeria that's the end of discussion. I get told these opportunities are not available to my country.

Whilst it looks like an attractive prospect, it's quite difficult. It takes alot of time and hardwork. You may even have less time than you have now.
As for the IP, do some research. There are many options available.

Sometimes I feel like relocating to the Gambia, Ghana or Rwanda to bypass this limitation.

You can actually make it if you make proper plans and adequate ground work. A whole lot will depend on it

Also consider the economy of these countries and the available skills you've got

The reason I asked was because growing up, there was this woman who had a pastry shop in the place where we lived.
As a little as we were then, we were allowed to help with the work (it was so much fun working with flour and dough) and got rewarded with all the pastries we could eat.
So, at some point, I got sick of anything that had to do with pastries, I couldn’t even stand the smell.
Although, the experience inspired my passion for cakes and pastries making.

Hmm....you mean like with Tunnel Bear on the IP thing? Some companies do an IP sweep and somehow are able to detect your exact location. What's your own strategy for making the dream come true?

This right here is one of the reasons I want to stay child free. This fear of the unknown tends to magnify in ten folds when children are involved, bringing with it paralyzing thoughts of - how will my children feed, how will I continue to pay this school fees, what will my children do, I don't want my children to suffer and more....... So, you stay in a soul sucking job that drains you year in, year out for their sake and security.

As a single and child free person, I only have to worry about my parents and thank God for good/sensible siblings. I know that when I unintentionally drop the ball on their upkeep allowance and general welfare, one of my siblings will pick up the slack until when next I can. Knowing there's that support for our parents minimizes my own fear of the unknown and allows me to take risks with my work life.

So long as those countries do not have the same IP restrictions, bad rep and poor image as Naija does I am good to go.

Then you have it dear!

Wish you all the best!

.
1. My strategy is basically to go into services, have a company that provides services, probably haulage or something. I'm still figuring that out. Basically, something that I can have full control over, time and all.

2. There are services like express vpn etc that are very good. Most good vpn services are paid for, the issue of cracking it is non existent, do some research.

You are able to take care of your parents, which is commendable. If you don't have kids, who takes care of you?
I also had that fear, I still do but my kids are the best thing in my life, they keep me motivated and make life worth living. Anyway, I guess you're still young and I expect you'll change that opinion with time.
