Leadership of the Interim Management Committee of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, has extolled President Muhammadu Buhari for approving N13.3billion for the take-off of the Community Policing initiative across the country.

The IMC, who made the commendation in a statement, described the move by the president as timely and a solution solver to many security challenges besieging the country.

Recall the President Muhammadu Buhari approved the take-off during the opening of a two-day Mid-Term Ministerial Performance Review Retreat organized to assess progress made towards the achievement of the nine key priorities of his administration on Monday in Abuja.

“The ALGON-IMC applauds President Muhammadu Buhari for the giant stride of approving the take-off of the community policing across the country and instructing the Ministry of Defence to create a modest military-industrial complex for the local production of weapons to meet some of the requirements of the country’s armed forces, it goes to show that the president is indeed concerned about the security challenges befalling the nation.

“We are very optimistic that the Community Policing initiative across the Country, will stand in as measures to consolidate efforts aimed at curbing insecurity nationwide and also the establishment of the industrial complex would address Nigeria’s over-dependence on other countries for military equipment and logistics. It added.

Expressing excitement at the new development, the IMC enjoined all and sundry to assist in ensuring that the initiative attain and exceed expectations.
