Do You Even Weigh The Gravity Of Your Actions? by GideonOludayomi(m): 8:56pm On Oct 20, 2021 |
Good day to you my fellow Nairalanders. Recent interpersonal events and the intensity of their reality is the motivation that has led to me creating this thread. My purpose basically is to make you pause for a second and just have a second thought especially if you are a craftsman, a trader, self employed, entrepreneur, private employee, public servant and so on. I am in no position to judge you for I can relate with the 'obvious' reasons many give for behaving, reacting or responding the way they do in certain but spontaneous situations. It is true that we are humans but does being a human take away our inherent capacity for understanding? Does it take away our inherent capacity for rationality? Does it change the fact that we are the centrepiece of all creation? Does it take away our capacity to will and to choose?... So what then is the problem?! Nigeria is full of shit, no doubt. But have you even taken the time to sit down and ask yourself how this shit came to be in the first place? My friend, this shit we all cry foul of today is a product of a chain reaction, an effect of a cause! I think of the plumber who took my money and failed to do a good job; I think of the service men who failed to show up on an agreed work paid for; I think of the employee who cares less what about what becomes of the platform upon which he/she eats; I think of the proprietor or boss who doesn't care if you have a life or not; I think... I think.. I think of all these things and feel like some power should come upon me to deal with all these mess...and each time I suddenly realise that the negative energy I will be sending out will not only be received by those who caused it but mostly by those who knows nothing about it. Then I am left with the choice to either continue the cycle or let it end with me while I begin a fresh one despite its pains. That choice is yours and I alone to take. But I am confident that if you weigh your actions everytime, you will realise that it is deeper than you thought of it and perhaps you will always find the grace to make better choices. Think on these, when you plant a corn, you only need between 3 to 5 seeds but when you harvest it, what do you get? Evil spreads 1000 times faster than good. This is why you must always weigh the gravity of your actions. Shalom. |
