he National Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Prince Tony Mommoh has explained why his party boycotted yesterday’s meeting between President Jonathan and party leaders.
He said apart from the fact that the invitation letter did not indicate an agenda for the proposed meeting, it would amount to betrayal on the part of the CPC leadership to attend a meeting convened by President Jonathan whose election was being challenged by the party.



“If I appear before the President (Jonathan), he would certainly offer me a handshake; and if I shake hands with him our teeming supporters, including victims of arbitrary arrests and sufferings would be watching my handshake with the author of their suffering”, Mommoh said.

He said there was no way the CPC could be part of a meeting whose agenda was not expressly defined.

“The CPC is neither a parastatal nor an appendage of the federal government and the President (Jonathan) is not INEC which has the prerogative of meeting with registered political parties,” Mommoh also said.

CPC is already a spent force. Do you see them EVER wining ANYTHING in the south of Nigeria?They will just die a slow death as other parties eat away at their support base in the north.
