Pictures Don't Lie: Gov. Matawalle's Massive Infrastructural, Equipment, Personnel Drives In Health Sector In Zamfara State

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, is a man that always has his sleeves rolled up.
His massive drives in reviving the battered Infrastructural and economic situation of Zamfara State is now a model for other Northern Governors.

On Tuesday October 19, 2021, the hardworking and pragmatic leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Zamfara State commissioned the headquarters of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZACHEMA) as he flags off enrolment programs, dissemination of operational guidelines and benefit packages for the use of the residents.

Gov. Zamfara during the official commissoning said; “As a testimony of the commitment of my administration to the realisation of this scheme, we decided to construct this befitting headquarters for ZACHEMA and provide the required facilities for the effective functioning of the offices and we have also deployed technical staff for the agency and trained over 600 healthcare providers on basic healthcare provision fund across the state,” Matawalle said.

He said; “Social statistics have shown that over 74% of Nigerians pay for healthcare through their meagre earnings. In some states, the proportion ranges from 85-92% based on estimates from the World Health Organisation (WHO). It is obvious, therefore that our desire to ensure universal and quality healthcare for all will remain a mirage without decisive intervention and support by the government."

He he stated that his administration had made efforts which include the supply of 23 ambulances to health care facilities across the state and the construction of new women and children clinics in all the 14 local governments of the state. We are currently constructing 147 Primary Healthcare Centres across the rural areas of the state at the cost of over N2billion.

Another of Gov. Matawalle's legacy in health sector was the commissioning of 300-bed General Hospital in Birnin-Magaji Local Government area of the state.

Represented by Dr Bashir Maru, Chairman, Hospital Services Management Board, the Governor said the State Government will recruit more personnel to provide adequate services in the state hospitals.

”The State government plans to upgrade and remodel both primary and secondary health facilities to improve health care in the state.

”The government is working to provide state-of-the-art facilities for effective health care delivery in all parts of the state,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project which was initiated by the administration of former Gov. Abdullaziz Yari.

The Yari administration, however, executed only 40 per cent of the project and left.

The project was taken over by the Matawalle administration where that remodeled and completed the 60 per cent construction of the general hospital.

It was remodeled and provisions were made for additional structures to accommodate more patients, and personnel.

Now completed and equipped with some of the latest equipment you can find anywhere in the world, this was in addition to a state of art hospital in Gusau; the only of its kind in the North West region.
