The war of Dahomey – a nation currently known as the Republic of Benin in Africa - is also known as the Egba-Dahomey war which took place in the nineteenth century between the then kingdom of Egba and Dahomey. As with many olden days' disputes, the war was basically as a result of territorial expansion by the people of Dahomey into the Egba's land in a bid to stabilize their crumbling economy. The war of Dahomey happened as the third catastrophic triplet of wars that crippled the Yoruba Empire after the popular Owu-Ife war (1821-1828) and the Osogbo war (1840). After these two wars, the then Oyo nation was in chaos-based on political instability. Read More https://freshcitynews..com/2021/10/war-of-dahomey-history.html 1 Like

This is inaccurate History but I trust the Egbas to set the record straight The Dahomians suffered very huge defeat on both Occasions they invaded Abeokuta And it was the Egbas who sent the Assassin who finally ended the life of King Ghezo of Dahomey in retaliation For attacking Abeokuta twice It was even in Oyo Palace that King Ghezo as a Hostage Prince of dahomey raised in alaafin Palace had learnt the Art of Kingdom Administration Politics and Warfare He was taken as a Hostage Prince to Oyo and Raised by alaafin after one of his father's Rebellions It was because of the Alaafin of Oyo's Army had defeated the Dahomians heavily at least 5 times and had made Dahomey a Vassal State of Oyo that the King of Dahomey was reduced to recruiting women to make up for the huge shortfall of male fighters lost as a result of heavy troop losses and defeats the Dahomey suffered at the Hands of the Oyos |
