When Good luck towed this path in 2014 or so, national outcry that led to national strike and the present president condemned it. Now, a need to do the needful is now clear in their eyes. I'm still amazed how a nation so endowed with this natural resource still refine over 80% of her crude oil outside her shores and subsidize it to marketers who brings it in to be sold to the end users. This shouldn't have happened in the first place. The reason is not far-fetched though! Shows all those before the present leader who led this nation have no concrete plan and vision for this country. They only ascend the throne to play politics & amass wealth that is to be used to service this nation. We'll, never too late to do the needful. But we shouldn't be surprised when there's surge in petroleum products, prices of commodities and services, and the much of the burden on the masses. 1 Like |

There is no shame...what plan b are u looking for?...dangote refinery will cater for the whole country U want the same old refineries DAT were I'm government hands to be resurrected and still be government hands to eventually fail again because of the greed of Nigerians... It best everything is left in private individuals Harnny: |

The burden on the masses was the reason it was sustained... There was a time oir refineries were working fully .but subsidies was what killed it in order to satisfy the greed of the masses...the reason why goodluck plans failed was because he had to plans for local substitution... He just wanted the product to be imported and be sold for what ever damn price it worth..imagine if he succeed when during his tenure when a dollar was around N150...what do think the price of petrol will be like with an Exchange rate of N414 ...buhari at least realised that for this subsidies to end ..importing the product with scarce dollar must end as well... This is why he supported dangote through CBN for exclusive forex supply to bring In all the equipment to bring his refinery to live..at least once bubu removes end subsidies...the business on the petroleum industry will be done in nairas not scarce dollars emmnprince: 1 Like |

You don't need to tell the us. That is what we use to right from primary school until terrorists came to power. You don't need to remind or force us. Its natural. If you are sincere with your self, this is another thing that should tell you that you have failed as a leader. You can't even promote your profession. What a shame? NewFolm4: |

[s] post=107066258:[/s] If you think Dangote's refinery will solve Nigeria's energy supply problems, then you are so wrong. You don't have any knowledge about the challenges of the downstream oil industry and you open your mouth to spew trash under the guise of fake and paid patriotism. This is the same refinery that Federal Government through NNPC has acquired a 20% stake. Your darling daddy is the minister for petroleum resources, but the refineries have refined Zero barrels since he took over. |

post=107066258: Which refinery will come to life? The one that they are shifting production date forward and forward? Dangote won't resume production in the next two years minimum. All the old refineries are in comatose, they had time to prepare and mitigate these things before signing the compromised PIB and knocking off subsidy completely but incompetence, ineptitude, politics and nepotism won't let them reason well. Nigeria show brace up cos the next two years of this failed government will be .... Only God can redeem this nation from the hands of this pending disaster |

Using that man’s broken bottle narrative, being optimistic about fixing the bottle is foolishness, ‘cause in reality it’s not possible. leokid866:started? Where are they? Are they functional? Has it affected price? PMS is high because we import it, so if we produce enough and need not to import the price should drop sadly we're dealing with a government dedicated to impoverishing Nigerians |
Re: FG To End Petrol Subsidy June 2022, World Bank Condemns N2.9tn Funding by leokid866: 11:50am On Oct 26, 2021 |
odysey:you are right we don't produce enough.... but you can't put all the blame on this government alone.......successive regimes failed to address this issue.....and building a refinery is no easy task......just look at Dangote Since 2013 he is still on it.....even if government would put their full weight behind it, it will take at least 5 years minus the 2 years you will spend finding the site and then Negotiate it's purchase. |

Racoon: The same subsidy Jonathan tried removing and APC as opposition incited violent protest to oppose its removal. Back then, the subsidy jumped from around N0.3Tr to N2.0Tr and we said there was a scam. Today it is approaching N3.0Tr and we suddenly accept there is no scam. That means our consumption went up by approximately 10 times in a decade. Nigerians are wonderful thinkers. |

This people are really mad 2.9trillion that one politician will steal. Some federal and state ministries are not needed they should be scraped or mergers with others and besides money allocated to some bodies is too much. We need accountability they should explain to us how this money is being spent we need to see what they are doing with the money |
