Anambra State Government has received the green light from all relevant authorities to go ahead with the commissioning of the Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri despite reported efforts to scuttle the event by certain mischief makers in the APC.

News filtered in yesterday about politically motivated conspiracies against the opening of the airport. However, a swift response by the Anambra State Government and a massive outcry by ndị Anambra against the plot, elicited positive assurances from the authorities.

Reacting to the development, Principal Secretary to the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Nwokoye confirmed that the airport got all the permits and the commissioning ceremony will go on as planned. He noted that "those at the evil end do not know the Anambra spirit.

"Mark my words, this gangsterism will drive the final nail in their coffin. The consolidated will of the people will triumph. The loudest campaign done for APGA and the most impactful endorsement of this Anambra Airport Project is this monstrous mid-night move".

If planes are flying into Kano, Kaduna and Katsina even after bandits shot down warplane in the Northwest, the NSA has no justification to issue a directive against planes flying into Anambra when the Unknown Gun Men troubling Anambra has not demonstrated the capacity to shoot down things from the sky.

Meanwhile, I suggest the Airport be renamed ‘Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu International Airport’ upon commissioning.

Update on the planned commissioning of Anambra state international cargo and passenger airport

Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri will be commissioned officially tomorrow, Saturday, October 30, 2021 as originally planned.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which had earlier demobilized its equipment, is right now re-mobilizing.

Governor Willie Obiano, who went to Abuja this morning to neutralize the poisoned arrows from opponents is back in the state. He returned with every necessary paper and even more.

Kudos to Anambra people and their ebullient leader who fights like a lion.
