It's worse in Corollas, I helped one driver one day if not he would have been stranded that day. I showed him what to be doing until he gets to his mechanic, I know they would have told him his gear is faulty just to chop him. |

Dec 24 2019, 6:30pm was the day I experienced this exact gear cable issue. I slept outside that night in the cold because the mechanic I called wasn't able to fix it till the following morning. Almost ruined my Christmas. 2 Likes |

Please what about those ones where it actually starts and shifts well....but once I attempt to accelerate or even brake depending on which gear I've selected, it accelerates briefly before the acceleration meter starts going down and eventually shuts down. Then I usually turn it on again and gently accelerate to get it up enough to move. A mechanic had taken it away for 3 days without being able to unravel the cause even with the use of those scanners. It doesn't ground me but I cant just hurry out in the morning and expect to move immediately....I must spend about 3 to 5mins prepping it. It's a 2013 Hyundai Accent. Please help. 2 Likes |

Exactly how I fixed mine myself on my mazda 6. A very easy DIY job but very technical. It wasn't clicking into park properly and the P won't illuminate on the dashboard cluster causing it not to start at park except on neutral (N). I had to detect that myself and fixed within 10mins. It has a biscuit kind of bushing that wears off overtime. 2 Likes |

diportivo:You're right, but what I meant when I used the Sienna as example is that, some vehicle's gear lever are mounted on the dash as well but u can easily access the shift cable without having to dismantled almost the entire dashboard console. For the Sienna, the guy loosed the entire bottom part, i.e clove box, stereo console, the storage space unit, the panel rack that houses the obd connector and even at that he still didn't get enough hold and space of the cable. Anyway cars alike that, sometimes u know the problem and can see it but to access the problem u'll have to dismantle a whole lot of things just to get to something small. Thank you |
