Anambra 2021: Senator Uba Promised To Clear Backlog Of Pensions And Gratuity by Newsline09(m): 9:38am On Nov 02, 2021
SENATOR ANDY UBA TO CLEAR BACKLOG OF PENSIONS AND GRATUITY OF ANAMBRA RETIREES.

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Party, APC, Senator Dr. Andy Uba MFR has assured to clear the backlog of pensions and gratuity owed to Anambra State retirees when elected the Governor of the state at Saturday’s poll.

Senator Uba disclosed this to newsmen in Awka after the Anambra State Governorship Debate organized by Arise tv.

Uba, while responding to questions from the newsmen and highlighting his manifestos with emphasis on workers welfare’ after his exceptional and uncommon performance at the Governorship Debate, he sympathized with retirees in the state over their deplorable conditions due to unpaid pensions and gratuity neglect of the State Government.

“I feel sad that the Local Government system in Anambra State collapsed since the last 16 years of APGA administration in the State, I have verifiable information that Anambra citizens who devoted most part of their lives in service to our dear State had been neglected and allowed to live and die in absolute lack due to none payment of their Pensions and gratuity by the Government of the day” I sympathize with the pensioners over the terrible condition occasioned by bad governance in the state.

“We can not allow this to continue, something drastic has to be done to correct the anomalies before we lose our parents and elders who are pensioners to avoidable death induced by starvation; my Government will clear the backlog of pensions and gratuity and consequently review the civil servants minimum wage in our dear State.” Uba said

It is sad that the only achievement of the present Willie Obiano administration in Anambra State which is payment of salaries had equally collapsed and the tag of “Alert Governor” a hoax.

Many pensioners in the State today are living like prisoners and in penury after years of dedication and service to their State; many others who are still in service have all refused to retire having reached the required age of retirement due to fear of being abandoned, hence recruitment had not happened in the Civil service sector since the last 6 years, and this has contributed to the unbearable unemployment in the State.

Uba urged the Anambra pensioners, civil servants and Local Government workers to troop out en mass on Saturday and vote for the All Progressives Party, APC, for a turnaround in the State and civil service sector, reassuring his promise to conduct a Local Government election within six months of his administration.
