AE-FUNAI ACADEMICS SET FOR GERMANY ON EU-SPONSORED ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME
Two academic Staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, are leaving for Freiberg, Germany on a 2-month exchange training under the European Union (EU)-sponsored Erasmus+ programme.

While presenting the two staff, Engr. Chidi Onwurah and Engr. Emmanuel Odi, to the Vice-Chancellor, yesterday, the Director of Research and Development, Prof. Onuegbu O. Ugwu, noted that the exchange programme will strengthen engineering education in the University, adding that the benefitting staff will be in Germany for two months.

He revealed that the Erasmus+ programme was facilitated in 2018 by Dr. Charles Onah, adding that it will last for three years with six staff of the University expected to benefit from it while 2 academics from partner-university in Germany are also expected to be at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, on exchange programme for two months.



Prof. Ugwu further explained that this first set of beneficiaries will be going to the oldest mining University in Europe, TU Bergakademie, Freiberg, Germany. He therefore thanked the University Management for approving the partnership, stating that the programme will add value to the staff and improve teaching and learning in the University.

While receiving the beneficiaries at his conference room, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, described the Erasmus + programme as good news for the University, noting that the essence of the partnership is to build critical international relationships.



“It is good news. It is a kind of news that we need at this moment. I hope it is a door opener?”

The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha, also congratulated the benefitting staff, and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the University in their host university and country in order not to close the doors on other staff who may also benefit from the partnership in the future.

“Be a good representative of the University”, the Vice-Chancellor charged them.
