It was not easy for me though, till date, I really don't know why my Dad stopped sponsoring at 100 level but I was determine to graduate with my coursemates no matter what the cost is.

One of my friend who had similar challenge told me about a motor boy job for trucks carrying crates of Coca Cola products to Retailers at Umunede, Boji-Boji, Agbor and Igbodo.

I was lucky to be picked by the driver, and I started following him on different trips. It was quite hectic and demanding as I will have to offload many crates all by myself.

During this hustling period, I was missing lectures, but I asked one of my coursemate to help me record some of the lectures on his phone and I gave him money for handouts and other reading materials.

When he send the materials to me, I will be inside the truck listening and reading while we embark on a long trip.

It was not easy as the salary I was receiving as a motorboy was 15k, I will save 13k (House rent, School Fees) and use 2k to stock the kitchen. Thankfully, things were cheap at Ekpoma 2010-2011.

This was how I gathered some good amount of money and paid some of my bills, though the result was not really what I planned for, but I never had an extra year neither did I give anyone money to help me “BLOCK” any course.

I was among the first batch in my set that was mobilize for Service.

School Fees then was 36,900, and you can pay installmentally (18k first installment)


House rent was 24k a year....

Sponsoring yourself through school without proper planning is a No for me. Here is my experience so far
I learned barbing in Lagos and was fortunate to work as a stylist in the same saloon, after my boss who is also a stylist left for reasons best known to him. I worked as a stylist for 3 years and save over 200000, I was caught in between what to do, whether to open my own saloon or sponsor myself through school, I asked for advice from people and only two people advice in favour of going to school and nine people went against it (some people decided against it because I will have to rewrite WAEC which approximately cost 50000).
I decided to follow my heart and got admitted in 2016 because I did WEAC and JAMB at the same time), I got admitted in two higher institutions (ibadan poly and UI) I choose dis two institutions thinking that they were both federal institutions , I decided to choose ibadan poly because my jamb combination did not permit me to choose UI.
Choosing ibadan poly, I later realised that ibadan poly is a state institution and that was the beginning of my worries.
Paying acceptance fee,registration( it include all receipts)and tuition fee alone had cost me over 100000 and I don't have upto 30000 in my account as at the time of writing my first semester exams. During second semester I worked in a saloon close to my house because I lived offcampus but Lagos can never be like Ibadan where I raised so much during the same thing, I have to abadon the saloon after exams and went back to Lagos because I had only 2000 left in my account and I told my my landlord if he didn't see me in 4weeks after resumption, he should lease out his house because I don't know maybe I will return or not.
During the second semester I was so depressed that if it was the era of suicide with snipper, I don't know what would have happened yet I have alot of bad thoughts, like running away from school,home and in other to move to very far place so that people will not laugh or mock me especially people in Lagos.
After finishing the first session (ND1), I later resume after 6weeks, how I was able to come back again won't be discussed so as to give the the necessary advice I can
1. Raise a lot of money (capital) before seeking admission
2. Do not depend on people
3. Don't live in school hostel rather stay off campus because with that, there will be many opportunities
4.it will be an added advantage if you have handwork that you can do
5. Relate with people that you can derive benefit from, at the sametime, they should also benefit from you
6. Don't live fake life
7. Most importantly face your studies
All the things I listed above as advice was based on my personal experience and I am still a student under the same conditions.
Today 3rd of Nov make it exactly 3years that I signed out from poly ibadan (ND)

My dear it wasn't easy..

I did assignments, seminars, projects etc for fellow students...

I almost had grey hairs lol

But in the end I shouted glory!!!

That time mehn, thank God for kala. Nothing like crypto that time. Well, I didn't know much about crypto that time. All I did was to go obtain careless people under bridge at night. Use the money to survive till the next looting go take place ..
