This year will undoubtedly be a memorable one for Tems and Wizkid. They are racking up nominations at every major awards show with their collaboration in “Essence“.

This time the singers earned five Soul Train Award nominations respectively. While H.E.R. leads the 2021 Soul Train Awards nominations with eight nods, Jazmine Sullivan and Chris Brown follow with six nominations each. Not far behind are Blxst with four, Silk Sonic, Doja Cat, and Yung Bleu each have three nods.

The groundbreaking single “Essence” by Wizkid and Tems has been nominated for four categories, including Song, Collaboration, and Video of the Year, as well as the Ashford and Simpson songwriter’s award. Wizkid’s album “Made In Lagos” was nominated for Album of the Year, and Tems was nominated for Best New Artist.

Since the start of September, Wizkid has been on his Made In Lagos tour, pleasing crowds around the world, with Tems making a couple of appearances.

Let’s hope the duo get to perform at this year’s Soul Train Awards hosted by Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold, airing on November 20th at the Apollo Theatre.
