What do you need it to do for you?

is that a mock or a real question, of cause you need vmware for a lot of thing , like installing linux on a windows environment, testing copies of different O.Sses to talk of few,

There are lots emulators out there. Check the following:

1. StarNet's X-Win32  (my favorite. thats what i'm using at work with sun's solaris)
2. Hummingbird's HostExplorer
3. Tarantella's Secure Global Desktop

They all don't work with all the *.nix distributions. Check the product datasheet to find out the one that works with yours.

those are terminal emulators, i mean WHOLE desktop emulator, given the the chance to actually INSTALL stuff in the virtual environment, whole operating systems and application in different O.S . catch the gist?
