Health For Nigeria recently initiated a program to recruit and deploy Registered Nurses (RNs) to rural public schools in various locations around Nigeria
Official Job Title: HFN School Nurse
Reports To: The School Nurse will report to the Nursing Coordinator.
Job Overview: The Nurse hired in this role will run sickbays in public schools and provide healthcare support services to students & staff and would also work with schools to foster health education, health awareness, and health literacy by establishing a health club with the students.
Personal characteristics:
Age: 19-28 years
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Critical thinking and ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
Friendly and able to get along with children and students.
Drive to create an impact within the community.
Willingness to dedicate a minimum of 2 years towards the program.
Must be able to independently work in/relocate to the required location.
Qualifications: Registered Nurse with official certification. Should be resident of the state where the school is located
Education level: BNSc. is a plus but not required. However, all BNSc. applicants are encouraged to have NYSC completion certificate.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide basic First aid services to students and staff of the school.
Support the school with implementation and supervision of COVID-19 re-entry and recovery protocols.
Establish and manage a school health club for health education of students
Foster health awareness and literacy in the school.
Develop a relationship with nearby Primary Healthcare Centers to escalate any cases beyond what can be managed at the school sickbay
Keep track of inventory and ensure the school sickbay is properly maintained.
Engage the community while school is not is session. This can include but is not limited to outreach projects, home visitations, Community campaigns and more. We are open to creative ideas towards improving community engagement.
Attend HFN monthly lectures via Zoom
Meet and coordinate with HFN Nursing Coordinator and provide weekly and monthly reports,

Experience: Entry level (1-3 years), Experience working with children is a plus.
