hello gurus in the house, I have a 120ah battery that was given to me, brand new. am thinking of adding additional battery, is it okay to combine it with 150ah or 200ah battery. I have a 1.4kva available.

Combing batteries of different age and size can ber very unforgivable due to internal resistance and capacity,

For the series connection, ,
It's like joining a thing wire with a fat one,
In the end, the thin one is going to burn out first,

While in parallel,
The less capacity would get full and probably over charge,
And also it would be the first to discharge and probably be heavily discharged.

But this is just a caution,
You could probably find a way to go about it,
But more better in parrallel than in series!

We have heard so much noise on inverters and how efficient they can be in providing alternative power in the absence of stable power supply.

Can we have those who have experiment those inverters tell us their experiences to guide new and intending users in making an informed choice.

Thanks as you share your experience.

We at Simtech have non-rechargeable inverters working 24/7 without the need for nepa or generator with a one full year guarantee. You can reach us on 07062294719

Please much respect to everyone.

There hasn't been PHCN power in my house for over two months, and I totally exhausted my inverter and batteries since then (since April).

Now we just had power yesterday and the inverter charging light is not showing. It is only the power light that displays red color, while the backup light is also blinking red when connected to power source. I've changed d fuse still nothing. The inverter is sinergy brand. Please help

try and boost charge battery with external charger or give it to a battery charger to charge

Please house I urgently need your help. I need to buy a 24v pure sine wave inverter at most 1.5kva but preferably 24v, 1kva capacity but this is scarce. I am currently considering a BTS inverter which I saw on Konga and Jumia, please is this a good inverter? Which other one can you recommend. Thanks.
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by Nobody: 10:11am On Jul 12, 2017
I need some expert advice on this: I just got a PRAG Inverter (1KVA, 700W) with a single 200AH battery. I did the connections myself, and it takes about 16 hours to charge fully with 10A current. I'm using it to power just one computer with a total power draw of 280W, and it lasts about 4.5 hours before it cuts off. I need the computer to be on like 24/7 and PHCN only gives power about 10 hours a day, so I'm considering adding solar panels.

* The inverter has another set of power inputs apart from Utility/Mains. Is this where the PV input will be connected? (the user manual was very terse)
* If the input from PV goes directly to the inverter first, will I still need a solar charge controller?

I'd appreciate your responses.

For your setup, you will need a Solar Charge Controller. The Solar panels should be connected to the Charge Controller. I would have expected the 200ah battery to run for 6 hours or more with the 280w load. How old is the battery?
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by spinola: 1:37pm On Jul 13, 2017
The average Nigerian burns away ₦1000 on generator fuel every day. ₦30,000 a month. ₦360,000 a year. You could save hundreds of thousands of naira every year, by buying an Inverter. Get the power you deserve, without burning away money.

The battery is just a week old. See image below for the model.

What wattage and number of solar panels will I need to keep this system on 24x7?

I noticed mains supply charges my inverter better than using Gen, as in if I charge using both means for a short while, and for the same duration, I get more backup time wen it's charged with the mains, why is that?
Inverter is Microtek 1.1Kva, one 200Ah Batt, Gen is 2.9Kva.

Hi, I've noticed the same effect on my inverters too. I had to use an oscilloscope to investigate the difference between the mains supply and my gen.
They both have same RMS voltage and same frequency but different peak value.
The mains has a peak value around 310v, while the gen has 280v. I also discovered that the charging rate depends on the square of the input voltage. Therefore, i concluded that the lower peak of my gen lowers the charging rate.

There are a number questions that we need to ask in order to recommend a cost effective 24-hour setup. First with regards to the load, is it essential that you use a desktop? Could you for example run the same applications on a Laptop?

If we assume that you must use your existing desktop, your existing 200ah is not going to be sufficient. For example if you were to get two 300 watts Monocrystalline Solar Panels, you desktop would run and your battery would be charged during the day no problem (as long as there is sufficient sunlight) but once the sun goes down all you have is your battery, which from what you have told us can only give you 4.5 hours.

To get the 24 hours you desire with the current load and existing setup, you will need to increase the size of your battery bank, get a bigger intelligent external battery charger e.g 20A, as well Solar Panels and Solar Charge Controller. You can call me on 07037451701 (during working hours) so we can discuss in greater detail.

noticed same on my 4kva mustpower when i charge with my 8.1kva gen..the charging current flunctuates btw 22amps and 5amps...unlike when it is on phcn..its usually stable at 31amps,
i attribute this to the noisy nature of the output voltage of most petrol gens...am sure a 40kva diesel gen will have a stable output and such flunctuations will not occur....
my gen output voltage isnt stable..it also fluctuates btw 210v and 233v....every 2 to 3 secs...unlike phcn that is more stable
