Environmental health is a global issue that requires every individual to take personal responsible for it. Negligence to proper environmental health practices can result to adverse consequences. This project topic is considering the effect of improper disposal of industrial solid waste on man and his environment. This is to ensure empirical examination of the actual effects of improper industrial waste disposal.

According to the World Health Organization, solid wastes are useless or unwanted waste materials that arise from man activities that are not free flowing. Aside from discarded wastes from homes, industrial solid wastes materials are always on large scale are make up a larger percentage of solid waste. However, the improper disposal of these waste are hazardous both to man and his environment.

This environmental science project topic embarks on an empirical journey to arrive at tangible conclusions to the effect of improper solid waste disposal. However, here are downsides to improper waste disposal as we talk about this on a lighter note:-

Generally, proper disposal of industrial solid waste includes collecting, storage, transportation and sanitary disposal of these wastes.
Inclusive also is proper recycling knowledge and habit. Otherwise, the effect of improper solid waste disposal includes:-

Soil contamination
Solid wastes when they breakdown release toxic waste into the soil. Plastic wastes, for instance when they decompose, release DEHA, a carcinogen that has a negative effect on reproductive health. Solid waste causes a dysfunction on plant growth and in extension the animals that feed on them. In humans, the DEHA causes weight loss and liver dysfunction.

Air contamination
Toxic chemicals are also emitted into the atmosphere from the decomposition of toxic waste. The effect is the inhaling toxic air into the human respiratory system and destruction of the ozone layer. Toxic air can easily contaminate water and make it poisonous to both humans and aquatic animals.

Other effects of improper solid waste disposal includes
