IPOB wanted to use Anambra election as a bargaining tool but it failed.

Nnamdi Kanu will spend the Christmas in Jail.

After today, if Nnamdi Kanu is not released. Make sure you guys declare 1 month sit-at-home. Let's see who will die of hunger, Buhari or Igbos residing in southeast?

grin

@jmoore. No need to gloat over Nnamdi Kanu. He is just treading the path of greatness. Indeed. One day Nnamdi Kanu could very well be the first President of a free Igbo Nation,
Just compare Nnamdi Kanu with Nelson Mandela.

@mfm04622

No court no be market. But Court na the place where your freedom is guaranteed. Na place to limit the misuse of government power.
The Role of the Courts

The justice system is the mechanism that upholds the rule of law. Our courts provide a forum to resolve disputes and to test and enforce laws in a fair and rational manner.

The courts are an impartial forum, and judges are free to apply the law without regard to the government’s wishes or the weight of public opinion.

Court decisions are based on what the law says and what the evidence proves; there is no place in the courts for suspicion, bias or favouritism. This is why justice is often symbolized as a blindfolded figure balancing a set of scales, oblivious to anything that could detract from the pursuit of an outcome that is just and fair.

Government has no place dictating to the court who should and should not be present to watch proceedings

In view of the security threat Kanu is, Govt is right in restricting access to the court when his case is being heard.
As long as Kanu and his lawyers are in court, and the proceedings are not secret, govt had done nothing wrong! All others are just busybody and spectators. Apart from Kanu, his lawyers and journalists, none others have RIGHT to be in the court room. They only have privilege. That can be withdrawn at any time

@ mfm04622 Do you know Chief Obafemi Awolowo?

Read what Awolowo said in 1963/64 during his own Treason Trial. Read and see whether there is any difference or any similarity between Chief Awolowo and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu'
"Since 1957 I have fought, as your Lordship remarked, with vigour against the feudal system in the Northern Region and for its eradication. I have also fought to prevent the spread of this evil political system to other parts of Nigeria.

During the same period I have strongly advocated the breaking up of Northern Region into more states in order to have true federation in Nigeria, to preclude the permanent subservience of the people of Nigeria to the autocratic ruling caste in the North, and to preserve peace and unity in the country."

Well, Awolowo was tried and sentenced to jail. Kanu to should be allowed to be tried and if found guilty, sentenced. Simple
Why are people asking that he should be released without being tried?

Actually they are focused on their problems, the people u exchange banters with on a daily basis on nairaland don't represent or speak for the North. They only air their opinions

Those protesting outside the court house yesterday with placards were not Easterners but northerners
