NIGERIA

My Nigeria, My Nigeria, My Nigeria
Why is thy white flag turning red?
Where are thy old time powers?
Aren’t you giant of Africa again?
Where are the values of the time past?
Isn’t it paramount for thy lost glories to be restored?
My Nigeria, My Nigeria, My Nigeria.

A land of great promise now turns inhabitation of great problems,
A place where one sleeps peacefully turns insomnia.
The home of criminals without fear,
Domicile of terrorists without identity,
Where wards leave for Alma mats without hope of returning;
Trips with snag of kidnapping and banditry,
My Nigeria, My Nigeria, My Nigeria.

My dear country, isn’t peace, harmony and unity thy identity?
Why faced with this misfortunes?
The land of majors without wars,
The home of great professors without discoveries,
Why hath thou sink so miserably?
Why is there unity without love?
Must you break before you are made?
Why do you promise us and fail to fulfil?

My country with great wealth without prosperity,
The place where the Supreme blessed with numerous resources yet citizens faced
with hungers without famine.
Are you going to remain this way?
My country, are you going to crumble and fall?
The great nation with solid foundation now dilapidated.
Why hath thou honour becomes dishonour?
Why become a place of history without glory?
A place of change without progress, billionaires without business,
Home of dreams without hope of fulfilment,
Yet turns bridge of requite.
My Nigeria, My Nigeria, My Nigeria.

Didn’t they promise change?
Why hath thou stuck in a gehenna?
Why are thou youth becoming visionless?
My country! Stand up with force.
Thy leaders are without visions?
Thy heroes without honours,
Didn’t they promise change?
Yet gave us hope of next level without foundation, democracy without freedom
of expression, grieve in place of happiness, suffering in place of hope,
tears in place laughter, terror in place of jubilations.

My country,
Why hath thy future hope being cut off?
Thy policies are without plans,
Our forefathers, shall we continue to leave like this?
Is this how you laid the foundation?
Why are the hopeless citizens becoming the casualties?
Shouldn’t we survive?

My country,
Why hath thy courts without justice, religious leaders without God’s fear?
Appointees without roles, intellectuals without thoughts,
Should we continue with dishonour?
Our educations are without values,
Learning under thick and thin without optimism,
My country, why hath thou become a place where immoralities are being sponsored
than education?
Is this thy future?

My country,
Why hath thou wasted thy future leaders?
Why hath thy eminence strike terror on the hope of thy denizens?
Why hath thy elders without wisdom annihilating thy future hope without crimes?
Are the youths no longer needed? Are they not the nation’s futures any longer?
Why leaving their lovers in despair?

Oh Nigeria, isn’t this enough?
Oh Nigerians, is this misfortune and miserable life not tired some?
It’s high time we looked in the mirror and reflect on our agonized souls.
The voice of the souls cremated, buried and dumped lamenting tumultuously.
Dear Yahweh, come to our aid. We are weak, powerless, decrepit and frail,
yet being oppressed.
Oh Nigerians, it’s time the oppressed gain liberty from their oppressor.
we are independent as a country yet citizens are vassals in their mother land.
Will this nation remain an abyss?
Will she continue to swallow her people’s blood?
Will she be revolted, shattered? Or will thy past glories never be restored?
Will thy inhabitants going to be liberated from this druj-demana?
Or be exterminated by it.
