My Thoughts for the New Year as this year gradually end

So, you bless God because you have 1000 naira and someone beside you has 500. Why should your gratitude be attached to how much you think you have more than others? Because in the real sense, your true worth doesn't consist in material things. Why not just push your gratitude by not placing yourself on any spectrum?

If I survive an accident where at least a soul dies, my 1st concern is why I should be in a vehicle where the devil will be bold enough to kill someone, not the gratitude for my safety. Remember 276 souls with Apostle Paul on the ship and how he boldly told them none was going to lose an hair to the shipwreck? Acts 27:27—That's the kind of believer you should be this year, not the one whose selfish prayer is for personal safety at the sight of rage. The type of Christian that'll lose a sheep and leave the remaining 99 to fetch the lost one, not the one that'll take a cue on the "at least some people have no sheep" cliché.

Sometimes, you lessen your worth as a Christian when you give thanks for the loss incurred instead of stopping the loss altogether. Contemporary Jesus: Oh, Lazarus died? Brethren, let's give thanks and pray that God keeps Mary and Martha, the sisters. At least, some people don't have any child. You went for an interview with a friend and you were given the job but your friend rejected - you both qualified. Why not ask yourself why a qualified friend with you could be rejected instead of jumping for joy that you were favoured?

You can imagine that little boy with some fish and loaves eating it all alone and then coming to the church the following Sunday to say, "Brethren, praise God! Out of 5,000 people, only me had what to eat. So I did eat until I was full and even had some I brought home". Learn to be the stream that waters every dying tree around you. Let men bud and sprout because of the chances you've got. Don't eat your seed to testify against those who have none.

Be that Christian of change. I will be.

Remember the Good Samaritan story too?
Jesus explicitly mentioned that a priest got there and left the wounded for the dead.

Maybe papa would get to the church on Sunday and testify that the same path he travelled through was where robbers attacked someone he met on the road! ‍♂️
You should be a Christian that'll dare any blood to be spilled wherever you are. Not one that'll praise God because they're not living in the Violence-infested North.

Dear Christian, don't let the decadence of the present world limit your authority in God.

Don't be the "God, we thank you for our own case; some are worse" Christian, when you can change the status quo.

Don't patronise complacency.

Take a cue also from that woman in pains for 18 years in faith (Luke 13:16). And don't say, "well... If it's been happening for this long, nothing is going to change. Let me accept this as my fate."

Which is more glorifying:

1. Lord, you've always blessed me with so much. Help me to be a great source of help, joy, and stability to many this year and beyond.

2. Lord, like you blessed me last year, let me be blessed this year even if the whole world is in peril.

Number 1, right? Then choose to be the change the world needs. Be the balm for people's pain.

It's sheer piety to show that your God is powerful because He prospers you, while others around you live in untold poverty.

But it's more edifying to show that He's powerful by being the reason everyone around you prospers.

You see why your orientation has to change?

Pray that everyone you associated with shall be blessed and prosperous, instead of praying you should be more prosperous than everyone.

You will know your worth as a Christian from the way you pray. It's why I don't fancy "be richer than your peers" prayers.

What happens if my peers are richer than me?

You even want to be the richest in your family. So others can look up to you?

Remember: when your prophet calls it a year of xyz, don't forget it can be just anything to you, depending on your input.

Every year is loaded with limitless benefits. Your portion is directly proportional to your input.

So, happy new year in advance?
