A CONSPICUOUS feature of highways in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are pedestrian bridges. Given the ever busy nature of the roads, they are found in several parts of the city to aid residents crossing the highways without the risk of getting hit by cars. However, rather than make use of these infrastructures, some residents choose to risk their lives, dashing across highways in a game of wit to avoid being hit by fast-moving vehicles. https://www.icirnigeria.org/shortcut-to-death-abuja-residents-shun-pedestrian-bridges/ 4 Likes

We have all done this at one point in time lol. Cable cars may help situations, especially for people with health issues and Older citizens that need to cross the road and are unable to use the Pedestrian bridge. Plus, the pedestrian bridge is not usually safe at night. EmmaLege:Lol, we've got cable cars at Obudu, Cross river state. We would have more that one, so that will solve the overcrowding. DWJOBScom:Cable cars are relatively safe. Firstly, they've got hidden CCTV in there. The cameras are carefully hidden so people will never know. Secondly, there are cable car operators and security officials at Point A and Point B. Nobody in his right senses will want to commit crime in a cable car, especially when it is in the air. You get monitored before leaving, while on air and immediately you land. The Cable car operators control everything. Only pregnant women are not allowed in Cable cars. free2ryhme:A picture was attached to my comment, so you'll know the type of Cable car I'm talking about! 23 Likes 5 Shares

Malory: Nigerians are symbiotic with laziness, imagine the excuses they are giving, they prefer to shout Jesus and alhamdulillah on near miss from a speeding vehicle than applying safety, they prefer to insult and lynch an innocent driver who knocked them down than do the needful. They will implicate village people and ignore their stupidity, many will blame Buhari but refuse to blame their self. 65 Likes 3 Shares |

Malory: Most of the bridges were constructed under the PDP regime. And there is no problem with them as far as I am concerned, people are just giving excuses not to use them. 7 Likes |

If you want to get Nigerians to obey rules and regulations, na Iron hand you go use. As long as there is no one arresting them for not using the pedestrian bridge, na road everyone dey put head if they wan cross. Most of the pedestrian bridge have been turned to market places, because Nigerians won't use them. 5 Likes |

As life savers, pedestrian bridges are considered critical infrastructure in modern road construction, especially in densely populated settlements. Where they are not available, residents are not comfortable and often crave to have them, as is the case in Toyota Bus Stop, on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, where a number of lives have been lost in attempts to make a quick dash across the road because there was no pedestrian bridge. Just imagine if that pajero is coming on a 350km/hr. God forbid bad thing. Another reason to say, Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. They are the problem of themselves. 7 Likes 3 Shares
