AE-FUNAI CENTRE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EMPLOYABILITY (CEE) TRAINS WIVES OF MILITARY PERSONNEL IN SKILL ACQUISITION
The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Employability (CEE), Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State has organized a 5-day skill acquisition programme for 50 wives of military personnel geared towards building their entrepreneurial capacities.

The programme which featured training on the production of air-freshener, germicide, disinfectant, liquid soap, and perfume was organized in collaboration with office of the Commandant, Nwagu Military cantonment.

The programme which was held at the Cantonment Hall was also meant to equip the women with relevant hard skills to make them productive and self-reliant, and as such become supportive to their families.

Declaring the programme open yesterday, the Cantonment Commandant, Lt. Col Malik Sa’ad, who was represented by Lt T.T Tsavwua, said the training was part of the initiative to empower the women to be self-reliant, and enjoined them to be attentive as it would be required of them to replicate what they were taught.

While presenting his speech, the Acting Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Employability, Dr Emmanuel Nweze, noted that the training was part of the University’s corporate social responsibility initiated to make positive impact in her surroundings.



Represented by Mr. Charles Kalu, he further said the activity has opened the door for more entrepreneurial schemes in the cantonment with the sole aim of making the trainees future entrepreneurs and trainers which will also help in the reduction of unemployment among wives of military personnel in Nigeria.



He also congratulated the women for being part of the training and thanked the Commandant for his approval to co-host the programme.



Also in his speech, a Senior Entrepreneurial Officer in the Centre, Mr. Cecil Anyim advised the women to take advantage of the programme in developing themselves for the future.

The Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Officers’ wives Association (NAOWA), Ebonyi Chapter, Mrs. Stella Ugbor who was represented by the Adviser of the association; Mrs. Amina Adehi expressed gratitude to AE-FUNAI for the gesture.



She said the training will alleviate the suffering of the women and engage them positively in the society, as many families now depend on the mothers for their daily bread.
