Big Brand Dutch brewer, Heineken is set to buy out a South Africa’s Distell Group Holdings and a Nambian Breweries forming a South African drink which will worth a whooping €4 billion.
The owner of liqueur brand Amarula and wine labels Nederburg and Two Oceans, would expand Heineken’s presence in the wine and spirit markets

Heineken Chief Executive, Dolf van den Brink mentioned that the deal will join and capture the growth of business in South Africa.

“We are very excited to bring together three strong businesses to create a regional beverage champion, perfectly positioned to capture significant growth opportunities in southern Africa”.

The Dutch brewer will pay €1.3 billion and add its existing South African business, to secure at least 65% of the new group.

The transaction is likely to close by the end of December 2022 will also see plans to sell Distell’s British- based Scotch whiskies.

This announcement comes after Heineken acquired United Breweries Limited in India and took full ownership of Brixton Brewery.

This was how Consolidated breweries, Ijebu-ode and Sona Breweries, Ota ended up under Nigeria Breweries, with Heineken as major technical partners.
