No "Delete Key" On Your Android Keyboard... Here is an Alternative! by gadgetarena: 6:07pm On Nov 19, 2021
ACTUALLY, THERE IS NO DELETE BUTTON ON YOUR ANDROID KEYBOARD

HOW TO USE "DELETE" KEY AND “ARROW” KEYS ON YOUR ANDROID KEYBOARD?

Before the exit of Blackberry, Android smartphones had been in existence and were widely accepted by many because of the flexibility of downloading and running apps, powerful functionality and of course the clickable Virtual keyboard which I thought should have had "Delete" key and “Arrow” keys like the laptop and desktop PC.

Most Android users are already missing these keys on their Android keyboard. In place of that there's an alternative.

Firstly, this trick works only on Google keyboard (Gboard) which is downloadable from the Google Playstore.

Download Gboard from the link below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en&gl=US

Instructions on how to activate Gboard on your device:
https://support.google.com/gboard/answer/6380730?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

Once Gboard is installed and activated on your device then you are good to go. Let’s go through some of these features:

CURSOR CONTROL (DELETE):

Drag your finger (left and right) along the Spacebar to navigate through your text till you get to where you want to "Delete", then use the backspace button for the operation.

GESTURE DELETE:

Alternatively you can delete “previously typed text" by dragging your finger on the backspace/delete button from (right) to the left side of your screen. This gesture highlights each WORD the cursor crosses; releasing your finger will delete the selection.

NUMBERS:

By default the Numbers from 1 - 0 do not appear on Gboard; To make the number row always available on the top of the keyboard, (enable it in Settings - Preferences - Number Row) Settings can be accessed straight from the keyboard.

EMOJI, SMILEY & SYMBOLS:

Same goes here, it's always absent by default, once activated it shows you quick (Emoji) hints as you type your text, (enable it in Settings - Preferences - Show emojis in symbols keyboard)

CAPITAL LETTERS, SMALL LETTERS, CAPS/SMALL LETTERS:

Usually, to type in capital letters, you have to long-press for 2-3 seconds or double-tap the arrow button facing up on the left button side of your keyboard. But you can also convert any existing text to All caps by selecting the Word and pressing that same arrow key. The same key disables the All caps features.

If you find this piece helpful and interesting, please share it with all.
