Okay I get you again. You are comparing it to international prices. If we deregulate, and we build refineries, we won't need to depend on the international price of crude oil. We export 1.9 million barrels every single day. We could at well just explore it in Nigeria, refine it in Nigeria and sell it here.
No need for importing the raw material (crude oil) as we already have it here. And no need for importing finished goods of PMS as we can make it here.
Try and be objective and stop this campaign thing like you are one paid agent to support this move of government. We ain’t building shit and you know it. We are taking up fully blown capitalist approach to the oil sector. Dangote refinery will get sabotaged and May never be completed till eternity cos some few privileged individuals must continue to make money off us through importation. All I’m saying is let the evil be done with some sense of respect or human sense.

That's to prove further how useless PDP is. They ruled for 16 years and got 0/100. Now to play opposition, they are getting 0/100 again, useless people.

Imagine the type of protest Tinubu would have organized if it were PDP in power and things are like this? Even the EndSARS that the masses organized, we couldn't get the support of the useless opposition
Dude.. ...You are still blaming PDP for your inefficiencies...Let's assume they failed in their 16 years of leadership as you guys claimed.

Una vote them out even when it was obvious, that all clueless definition wanted was power and nothing else. You guys bought their propaganda.

Now you are still blaming pdp again for not fighting for you guys after you've installed the change crooners as your leaders. What do Nigerians want ?

Something that should have been done since 2012... But na people like you go vote Buhari

Someone making sense here.

Not only since 2012, na since 1993 If not earlier we should have removed this subsidy thing.

If government was subsidising everybody's business to help the poor people would have been complaining about bad profits or creating artificial scarcity and selling on black market at high prices just to survive

The head of the Nigerian petroleum corporation in Nigeria NNPC stated recently that the pump price of petrol will increase to between N320 to N340 from next year. The price now is N160 per liter. The Buhari regime met the price at N87 in 2015.

This will be more than % increase in the petrol pump ⛽ price which is the highest in the history of the country. Road transportion in Nigeria depend on the price of petrol pump. Inflation will hit the celestial horizons as it has already hit the sky presently.

With this astronomical increase in the pump price of petrol I do not know how the poor will survive. And when I say the poor I mean more than 85% of the entire Nigerian population. The percentage of poor population varies from countries to countries. Nigeria has the highest of poor population in the world. The rich Scandinavian countries of North Europe have zero or single digit poor population.

The genocidal Buhari regime is the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria. The regime claimed it is paying huge fuel subsidy with the rise of Oil price in world market. And the regime claimed it will "replace fuel subsidy with N5,000 transport grant for poorest Nigerians." This is another grand rip off and unprecedented looting by the extremely corrupt Buhari regime. It will eclipse the looting of the Coronavirus lockdown.

The most unfortunate thing is that Oppressed Nigerians are largely divided and the near absence of the protest culture is a big minus to good governance and accountability in Nigeria. Nigerians should please learn the culture of protest from Followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

Wake Up Nigeria!

You’ve said it all. PDP is dead as an opposition party. Buhari had the audacity to come out for protest, where are the PDP leaders? GEJ doesn’t even care.

Between 2010 and 2014, a barrel of crude cost about $90 and $140 per barrel yet without subsidies the local price of fuel should have been about 140 naira.

In 2021 the price of a barrel of crude oil is between 60 and 90 dollars, yet the price of petrol without subsidies is about 320 to 340 naira.

What has changed, the naira has lost value and will continue to lose value for the foreseeable future if drastic measures are not taken.

What is happening now has already occurred in our recent past. It is said that as lightening does not strike the same location twice, economic events rarely ever parallel each other. Yet, here we are.

The international playbook for 2022

The Chinese want a seat on top the economic pyramid. They scheme with the IMF to get countries to adopt CBDCs with an ulterior motive of using the IMFs Special Drawing Rights currency (made out of a basket of currencies) to replace the US dollar as the global reserve currency.

In response, the United States raises interest rates on bonds sucking up liquidity from markets around the world leading to a much stronger dollar. A recession may occur in the United States, but this is a small price to pay.

Back to local matters
When 2 elephants are fighting, the grass suffers. Nigeria and Nigerians must coming to realise how insignificant we are in the scope of things economically on earth, so we must seek out proven solutions as opposed to trying to reinvent the wheel. This is not the time for trial and error. The cost may be our end.

I have advocated for increased taxation on the rich on items such as houses, clothes, phones and cars as this would protect of dollar earnings from crude oil from depletion. In 2015 the United Kingdom instituted a tax on shopping bags not only to reduce pollution, but also to provide a buffer to their reserves.

I have advocated for increased spending on public education mainly at the primary and secondary level.
Davido's recent fund raising should be a clear sign to Nigerians that we are indeed in a very unequal society, were 250 million can be raised by a few yet over 50 percent of the population live on less the 2 dollars per day.

Confucius says that if to want to plan for 10 years plant a tree but if you want to plan to a generation, invest in education.

Socrates argued that societies (democracy) would not work until philosophers become our leaders and our leaders become philosophers. He is saying that without education democracies do not work.

Winston Churchill said democracy is the worst form of government except the others. He is saying no system of government is good but of all the bad systems, democracy is the best.

Nigeria should not try to reinvent the wheel but to tow the path of already successful countries.

Good luck Naija.

Ps.
Lebanon is currently going through hyperinflation and Turkey is about to enter hyperinflation. If it can happen to them, it can happen to us

Expect more hardship, prices of things to skyrocket X5, more crime rate, more insurgency, but we go still survive

Lol. Remember in 2012, when the current APC chieftains came out to protest the removal of subsidy by the GEJ government? If they had supported the government of the day then, by now we'll have been reaping the benefits. But no, their greed and lust for power didn't allow them. Now, look where we are... The same 'Occupy Lagos' politicians then have miraculously lost their voices and are now only concerned with occupying their sitting rooms.

What benefits do you think can be reaped from removal of subsidy. Removal of subsidy will never change the pump price of fuel favourably to Nigerians except the the exchange rate is 50 naira to 1 dollar. Removal of subsidy is just allocating more money to this government to loot. Removal of subsidy and worsening exchange rates just means that Nigerians can expect to pay 1000 naira for a litre someday.
