One weakness that those of us from the South of Nigeria have is that we lack security consciousness. The reason is that we're generally raised to love (rather than to attack) the next person. Okay... "...We lack security consciousness..." doesn't really sound convincing. Southern Nigeria has always repelled attacks whenever they come. Repelled. It's always as simple as that. Defensive attacks on enemy forces (forces which an international history student studying about Nigeria would think are some sabre-toothed foreigners) have been recorded both in print and in memory. One wouldn't agree much if offensive was the talk here. I would rather outrightly say that the south has managed to surpress its bloodthirst and has embraced peace, but that the Fulanis are a group of bloodletting individuals who make it seem as though the south is dumb towards security. |
