I'm just venting... I listened to a song by DJ Khaled..."grateful"... And it pissed me off!  I'm so tired of rich people telling us to be grateful... Like, shut the hell up!!! This song, sang by a multi-millionaire in America...is somesort of motivational message to us struggling folk..! Can you imagine!? First of all, being poor is not something to be grateful for... Or being sick or any other unfortunate situation one might find his/herself... Secondly, don't fu**ing expect me to smile through my hardship! That's toxic... If I'm broke, then I'm gonna be frustrated and mad and unhappy... And it's perfectly ok! Thirdly, I don't need a rich person or a 'rag to riches' motivational speaker giving me advice on how to be happy even when life conspires against me!!! You can either teach me to make my own money or you give me some of yours! That's actually helpful! Keep your, 'Be happy, trying moments aren't permanent', to yourself...  If you were once poor and now you're rich... You were definitely upset enough and UNGRATEFUL to want something more outta life... So don't expect me to be content... Or to be happy willy as I'm working on a site mixing cement for 5k... And for those rich people people in their mansion... Don't even dare it! You're not in the position to tell me sh**...  I challenge you to give up everything you have and try living the life of an average Nigerian... Rich people should only open their mouths to give out useful information... Rather than preach that we should giggle like idiots while starving... Or after losing a relative/friend...etc Rant ended! My point is that rich people love to give out motivational messages to poor people... These messages are usually them tell the masses who are struggling to be happy despite their problems... It's like living in a gated compound... And you tell a person whose home is less secured that he should be grateful for the little he has... Regardless of the fact that his safety isn't guaranteed... And those 'rags to riches' people who love to tell us how content we should be because bad times don't last... It's stupid, because to me... They weren't content with their circumstances... That's why they struggled to get more out of life... And the worse, rich or satisfied people telling to to smile even when everything goes wrong... As though being frustrated or upset when you're broke is a bad thing!!! It's perfectly normal to be bitter when there's nothing in your life worth celebrating... But rich people tell you to laugh and see the bright side... Which is just annoying... As for being entitled... You missed where I stated that rich people should tell us how to make money Instead of dishing out their unsolicited toxic-positive advice? And if they want to be helpful, they could even be philanthropists...giving to those in need instead of telling them bullsh**... No poor, miserable person need a rich person to tell them that life is beautiful, that they should be happy, that they should be grateful for the 'nothing' they have!!! Do you get it? 1 Like |

capetownboyz: You missed the point! There's no motivation from a message such as this, 'Even when you're poor, still be happy'... It's idiotic... They tell struggling people to be grateful for having nothing... It's TOXIC POSITIVITY. If you're rich, don't expect someone who's wallowing in poverty to gleeful... Or content... Assume your child is starving, wouldn't you be irritated if Dangote opens his mouth to give you an advice that 'you should be grateful...you should cheer up!...it's only in your head and if you smile often, everything would be perfect!!' The only useful thing he could do is teach you to survive... That's more important... Or all the very most, he could be generous... But for a wealthy man living his best life...to tell the miserable masses that they should all be happy and grateful...it's just shallow and a bit wicked... And those who were poor, they can be compassionate enough to understand your situation... enough that they do not judge you for being frustrated... enough that they don't give you sh**y messages that they could not live by... PS...: Life isn't an exam..this is the sort of mentality black people have...that's why our communities are so messed up... We're here together, not competing... you keep talking about Africa same exist in saner western climates..not everyone will be rich and stop bothering about what the rich have to say about your condition ..wether they lead you on or not ..let them be..if they give you hope learn to make use of it unless you don’t have faith in yourself ..Good words can go a long a way in shaping lives irrespective of the paths you chose in making that a reality .it your own story to tell not theirs ..but if you are expecting money or make I show how you to fish Mehn you wasting time ..rich people hate when poor people come in par with them ..I don’t understand your point and have had such experiences but a fact I never depended on what they have to offer rather I distanced myself worked my way to the top and still doing that ..yes sometimes it happens when you give off words how you began and grateful for your present situations…making money seems magical in our current African system cause they are so many stuff stacked against us spiritually ,mentally and physically..for an instance your government not creating jobs or mediums that talent can be spotted which will usher one’s child into next generation of wealthy people ..rather they take your loot to countries who already done that to their citizens ..stop hating on the rich ones and whatever words that comes out of their mouths ..Hopefully when you become rich you learn from your examples ..you can’t expect poor to judge themselves lol .. two wrongs don’t make it right .. they both enjoy the comfort they’ve found themselves in and will rather chit chat with non motivated words that will change their conditions.. for one thing I will rather get a good vibe from a rich person than a poor person cause it gives me hope that I can still make it same way he did .. how about you tell ricks to give you money to boss up or better still buy his book and learn how to boss up ..pls rest ur case

I agree with you. There's is one idiot that usually tell me rich people don't sleep at night, That if I want to be rich I should make use of my night. Stupid motivation. Na person wey get something to do for night nai no go sleep. All and all I still need that motivation everyday. The thing is any area u are working on, look for motivational speaker in that area, is very helpful. One said the other day, 5 step to being successful, after all the nonsense, the 5th step was, buy my book I was like shey this well? 2 Likes

These rich people have never met you, they probably don't even know you exist and you're here hating them for very childish reasons... Growup abeg If you don't like what they say, then don't listen!!!! Them no force you... And the amusing thing is despite all your hateful rant, they're still somewhere sipping wine and going on tours while you "work all day in a site"  |
