oladipuposadeeq:In most cases the house owner dey know the conditions of the land and all that's involved but this our cut conner mentality is what's wrong with us. We'll look for someone to help with a waver or a connection at town planning offices. And he'll not let the agent do the needful after money has exchanged hands. The Oga will tell the boys not to serve the land, but when he leaves office, a new Oga will open the files and this is what it leads to. Mind you, the new Oga too want to steal nio, no be say he wan do the right thing o 13 Likes 1 Share |

It is always painful seeing ones earned labor goes up in smoke. Land issues are tricky in every state in Nigeria. To test whether a land you purchased is actually genuine and free from encumbrances. First chart the property direct from the state ministry town planning and urban development. Second: Make sure your survey plan is registered through the office of Surveyor general of the state office, Not the local government area. Third: Upon purchase and execution of land sales agreement just file for C of O to start the process of acquiring a C of O for it. Don't always trust your property negotiations to agents, hire the service of lawyer who has been winning cases. Your survey plan must be done by a certified Surveyor, possible ask him for his current standing. If all of this is done, you can at least have something to seek for legal redress. But Note, that buildings are not demolished without prior notice. But one vague thing with people who thought they have money, by money I mean tons of cash is not realizing that money without power means nothing. Get to know the Attorney general of the state where you are living, just a partner in progress homage visit. Or the governor if you are a business person decline politely not dabble in politics, but just a partner in progress homage visit. Get his hot phone number. Chief of police of the state., just a homage visit. State directors of EFCC, NDLEA, FIRS, there touts within these bodies acting out of their directors instruction. On any visit call the director of he is aware of this visit or invitation. A good and efficient lawyer, ask him the last cases he won especially on land disputes, pay him yearly. Head of touts within your locality, or get straight to MC Olumo if you are living in Lagos, once in a while weekend kolanut. Get a separate phone to call these people. You may need their service at one time or the other to fight the city hall. 5 Likes 1 Share |

/ Even if the government tells them to stop building, they will bribe the inspectors, continue building and hope for the best. When one person continues building, it emboldens others that the problems could be sorted. Before you turn around, the whole place is built up. / 6 Likes |

Kai, the pains and trauma that comes with your house being demolished is better imagined than experienced. Many do not survive it and when they do, it must have induced high blood pressure that may never go |

meolaniyi: Hahahaha, Igbos, make we go back to our region na. I always tell igbos that we be mumu. Only igbos go to other regions and be building magnificent buildings and project. Actually, igbos aren't as intelligent as they think. Nigeria is a time bomb and tribal issue is chaotic. Don't invest massively in other regions. Do the major stuff in ur region and have sales outlets in other regions. Play politics to enable us open seaports closer to the east. We don't just have sense. Lagos belongs to the yorubas and they can make policy as they want. That is their state. 3 Likes 1 Share |
