nah nah nah, i didnt justify anything, i am just saying that when you do wrong, you should expect ANYTHING from the people you have done wrong to (INCLUDING DEATH)... and what you certainly shouldnt do is expect them to do right while you've done wrong to them.

The evil effect should not be way too much than the action, it is simple logic. In as much as you want revenge, it must proportionate, that a child mistakenly knock down your bottle of oil doesn't warrant you to kill him because you want revenge, it must synchronise.

logic?!?!?! synchronize?! revenge?!?!?!? BWAAAAAAAH what the hell are you on about?! pls stop mistaking an INNOCENT MISTAKE with a CONSCIOUS WRONGFUL DEED ...this issue has nothing to do with revenge and all to do with HUMAN BEHAVIOR, we are not all peaceful people, we are not all holier than thou people, thats why we have people whose laws would cut off your hand if you steal and/or stone you to death for adultery while in other places they will give you a tap on the wrist. stop expecting EVERYONE to act the same while facing wrongful act.

In Nigeria, thieves are often beaten black and blue and/or burned to the tyre...and they are both RIGHT way to deal with these thieves. if people dont want to be in such predicament then i suggest they start doing RIGHTFUL ACTS.

you cant tempt the devil and then suddenly be surprised when he unleashes hell upon you. listen to you:" if someone is doing evil actions, they should be dealt accordingly", as if there are rules and regulations to these evil/wrongful actions, bwaaaaah!

Lol, I still don't get your argument though. You are right with the temperamental differences and ofcourse different reactions to certain events. But the fact remains that actions and reactions should be in sync. Forget the madness or height of anger at that moment and yes I believe one loses certain rights once the fellow commits some atrocities but it still wouldn't justify excessive reactions to said crimes. If we are to go with your logic, half the world would be maimed if not dead already. Because the punishment would be disproportionate to the crime. But to each, his or her own anyways.

In as much as I don't support wrong doings, your argument on laws of countries that stone people to death because of stealing are barbaric, most of Islamic countries that used to do that have stopped it. There are situation and conditions that determines human action as wrong or right they are : intentions, content of the act, and situation surrounding the act. A boy that steals drugs for her dying mother can't get the same sentence as a person that stole a car, all of them are stealing.

A mere promulgation of an act as a law does not make it morally right, for instance homosexuality can never be morally right even if the whole world legalize it. Justification of capital punishment because some countries sanctioned it doesn't make it morally right.

This girl is very very lucky she was not messed up by a mob.
She should thank God, repent and flee from stealing and other evils.
Few things that would have happened to her:
1. Stripped completely naked
2. Poured dirty/mud water from head to toe
3. Whipped with all kinds of lashes
4. Dragged on the street and mocked to scorn
5. Locked up in the Police station
6. Accused of stealing other 'missing' items in that store.
7. Made to pay for even the things she didn't steal in addition to the ones she stole.
8. Charged to court for theft
9. Released on bail set at about N100,000 with at least a Surety.
10. Let me not even go to what might happen to her in that prison if the bail conditions are not met.

Flee crimes.

here is something you should consider....
- some people (men) in Nigeria get beaten black and blue and/or killed for stealing....yes or no?
- if yes, then this is what could happen to a thief, right?
- if it is, then why do you automatically dismiss that she could be killed?

as i earlier said... anything that happens to her, she will deserve it (even death) because you cannot dictate how a mad person would react to such crime.

now you are going off the deep end while talking about whats "morally" right or wrong.... that is not the issue here. we ALL know whats right or wrong, but as i said earlier, when you do a wrongful act, you have A) no more right to demand that people treat you rightfully and B) should expect/accept anything that is done as a retaliation to your wrongful action (and whatever you get would be right). thus why, in Nigeria, if caught stealing, you can get a tap on the wrist, a beating black and blue, a disgrace by undressing you or even DEATH.

is it right? probably not, but if/when you decide to do a wrongful act, thats what you should expect from the REALITY OF LIFE! aka a wrongful reaction,.

btw homosexuality, capital punishment and/or marrying children is a rightful act in some part of the world... you may not see it that way but they do. so "your" moral is different than the "moral" of the next man. so if we indeed gave a damn about the morality of this issue (while i certainly dont) then any course of action would be right depending on what the victim decides that should be done upon that thief. you cant possibly impòse "your" morality upon others.

I am neither Yoruba nor Ibo, but the common talk here on NL is that it's the north dragging Nigeria back.

Because people get killed for stealing petty things in the country doesn't make it right or acceptable. The barbaric humans involved are even worse off than the culprits. Murder and stealing ain't on the same page. Take a group of students protesting for whatever reason as an example, then the police officers or military gets involved and as usual they were pelted with stones. Are the officers supposed to respond with lethal force even with the madness and anger at that moment? Ofcourse not. But say a scenario of robbers, armed with rifles. A corresponding lethal force would be engaged. That's basic common sense. We are in this mess with police officers because of your argument, they feel they can kill citizens who were unruly at will because it was in the heat of the moment, that temporary madness you cited comes to play. Which isn't acceptable. But like I said earlier, to each his or her own...we as humans must definitely have different opinions.
