Secondly, What is this eternal fire? Are the inhabitants of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah still burning in some eternal hell fire?

First and foremost , you should understood that mankind is mortal, and that the dead have no thoughts or consciousness. But must be resurrected to live again. So definitely, the inhabitants of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah are dead and not still suffering.

So we ask again, what is this eternal fire?

You may argue that it means the destruction of the cities was eternal, plus the people. But this doesn’t make sense because both the cities and the people who dwelt there were destroyed with this same eternal fire.
Luke 17:27-31, Jesus Christ says so, in your Bible.
Eternal fire of Jude 1:7, Matthew 25:41 & Luke 17:27-31 is destruction. & It's a fact..

Hashabiah:

Another argument could mean that the fire has an everlasting effect . But scripture tells us that the fire’s effect is not everlasting on them, because the people of Sodom and Gomorrah will rise again in the day of judgment, as shown by the Scriptures below.
Luke 17:27-31,did Jesus say Sodom/Gomorrah will rise again? Or evildoers of Noah's day will rise again?
No, not at all !
God's judgement on them was final.
The fire (a symbol of eternal destruction) had everlasting effect.
When you burn your note book to ashes, will that same note book be used to keep your records?
Can you now see that the fire had everlasting effect on the note book?
Hashabiah:

Mat 10:14 And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.
Mat 10:15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

Another verse on the subject :
Mat 11:23 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
Mat 11:24 But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.

Matt 10:13-14,24-25 was God's judgement "tolerable for Sodom/Gomorrah "?
No, not at all.
Remember David begged God "please do not bring me into judgement" in Psalms.

Pharaoh, Sodom/ Gomorrah, King Herod, etc God's judgement on them is final !!

Hashabiah:

So what does Jude tell us? It simply means, that the eternal fate of those people who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah has not yet been decided. Because by scripture , they will rise in the second resurrection, where they will be judged according to how they live their lives.

Did you not read your Bible that God said Sodom /Gomorrah will never exist?
God's case no appeal. No resurrection for them.
Hashabiah:

See below :

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
Rev 20:13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

So in essence, the punishment that is meant here is everlasting fire , which also speak of Hell as mentioned in matt25:41 ;

No,
Revelation20:13
"death and hell delivered up the dead in them."
Why would hell give up its dead if it's a place of torture? grin
Exodus 33:20 & John 1:18 no man can see God and live.
God will never be visible to man on earth.

Revelation is written in signs and symbols.
"Standing before God" is not a literal occurrence visible to human eyes.
"Standing before God" references approval or disapproval from God according to how God views each individual.

BornofGod108:

what does Eph 4 :10-12 say

Exactly!
Some Christians are appointed through God's holy spirit to act as Apostles, Pastors, Shepherds and Teachers but they're not to carry titles up and down because only among their fellow believers that the office is revered not everyone values it that's why Jesus said we should all refer to one another as brothers before the world! Matthew 23:8-10

Your guy is not my pastor because i don't know him neither has he taught you anything worth considering! undecided

Hashabiah:
Bros , you're just deceiving yourself by misinterpreting the gospel of Jesus and the apostles . For your information, the ministry of Jesus Christ (not angel Michael ) was basically about salvation. But salvation from what ? According to the dictionary, salvation means deliverance or rescue . So Jesus was basically sent to rescue us from something
.
Daniel 12:1 & 10:13, who did Michael the archangel Jesus Christ save in both verses?
Hashabiah:

This something was a place called hell and it's a part of God's kingdom . And it's reserved for those who disobeyed God ,
Genesis 3:19 & 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, why do you love to DECEIVE yourself?
Hashabiah:

just like Lucifer and his minions
. The bible strictly describes hell as a place of torment meant for the Devil and his angels(matt25:41) . In Mark 9:47-48, Jesus Himself gives a better picture of what kind of place it is :
"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

The gospels are litter with verses like these , and Jesus and His apostle made their life work to warn men about this place. In fact Jesus only spoke about heaven once but mentioned about hell 11 times. Now why would Jesus speak more about Hell than Heaven ? The answer is simple : He doesn't want you to go there .

This is something that's obvious and I wonder why Charles Russell Taze didn't admonish you JWs grin
You still don't want to learn...
Gehenna is a burrow pit for refuse & sewage outside Jerusalem in the time of Jesus Christ.
Sulfur and brimstone was added to keep it burning all filthy stuff deposited there.

Mark 9:47-48, nobody, I repeat nobody was tortured in Gehenna.
grin
