Yes, but since it is a crime, one would be wary of being caught.
yeah this is the only effect this would have over there .. make people keep their private wallets a secret ..

I just laugh at some of you saying this can't be regulated smiley

"The oyinbo wey do pencil na him also do eraser"

Nothing is impossible in this digital age.
Crypto cannot be regulated, this your talk na illiteracy talk, e no hold water at all. There are so many technologies that are so out of control from the government. Example the Dark Web, File Sharing Torrents And Crypto.

They are all decentralized because there is no central system, torrents have been existing since 2001 that’s 20yrs! Dark Web first appeared in 2000 that’s 21yrs! In decentralized technology no one owns the sole right to anything, file copies are distributed all over the world so you can’t hold A accountable. Because millions of other people all over the world have the exact same file.

The only way to stop these type of technology is to shut down the internet until then it remains impossible.

Lol Crypto wasn't ban why are dey now blocking people's bank account people that decide to sort for it through a Peer to Peer platform..

Sorting for Forex is something different if you go sort for forex yourself and decide to caption the money you sent to aboki as Forex your bank account will never be blocked but try caption a transaction with Crypto and see if they won't block your bank account..

And you're saying Crypto is not ban so far I'm not buying with my card I choose to go sort for it myself my bank don't have any right to block my account.
It's 'sought' bro.

See how he's writing nonsense with confidence so he can further display hatred for the country he was born and would die in.

India has tried severally to ban crypto and this is just its latest attempt, going through legislation this time.

Regulate my black azz.
You are an 1DIOT..

You are on a thread where India is currently actively trying to regulate the practice of Crypt0-currency in their country through selective regulations..

And you are HERE bringing up ancient history?

NIGERIA never banned cryptocurrency.
CBN only ask that cryptocurrency transactions should not take place in the Nigerian banking system in order to protect the value of the naira. Its the same with 44 items on forex prohibition list...government says it wont provide forex to importers of the items but they can source forex wherever they can but not from the finacial system.
They didn't ban cryptocurrency?

But they banned its transactions?

Tell me..

If you can't transact in cryptocurrency?

What the hell are you going to do with cryptocurrency?

The Nigerian government talks from both sides of their mouth..

Eventually crypto will go through some sort of regulation. Yes crypto was built to avoid regulations and give people freedom but recent events have shown that the cryptocurrency industry will eventually bow to regulation. Because of its decentralized nature it gives room for manipulation and allows for money laundering...terrorism financing....and drug trade....as you know cryptocurrency started on the dark web and as you know the darkweb is known for illegality.
Also many countries are adopting blockchain technology and virtual currencies....i dont see countries surrendering their sovereignty for a financial system....so i see some sort of regulation for the crypto industry eventually

You can keep it as assets. There are forex brokers that can covert your cryptocurrency now.....what CBN is saying is that it will not allow the trade of cryptocurrency in its financial system not that you cany own cryptocurrency.....its left for you to know how to convert it . Most of you asking these questions are new to crypto.....some of us are early adopters of crypto and know there are ways we go about it before the fintech revolution in Nigeria that made it easy for every tom dick and harry to now claim to be expert in crypto.....experts losing sleep over Nigeria government pronouncements dont know anything about cryptocurrency

Believe it or not..

There's nothing you know about crypto transactions ..

That I am not privy to..

The fact that you can use P2P or any other method doesn't stop you from being harassed and your account banned..

If the CBN gets a wiff of it..

However you want to do it..

Bank transactions are involved and by definition..

That is illegal..

According to CBN..

Then let me school you....even though you dont want to learn i will teach you anyway

You can send your cryoto to some forex brokers that accept crypto.....then trade the cryto for dollars and withdraw to your domiciliary account. All legal
CBN cant do nothing to you because the exchange is not using its dollar reserve and owning a domiciliary account that hold dollars is legal....irrespective of whether you converted crypto to dollars.

Las last na to migrate to crypto friendly countries go trade
As long as nexo and other mining firms pay me daily I don't give a fck about India and co
Absolutely! You're right about the Bitcoin miners being ordered to leave China and they are moving
to areas like Texas which has cheaper sources of energy for the energy guzzling mining activities.

Even the U.S. regulatory authority (just like in China, India, Nigeria and other major countries) have
shown signs in recent times that crypto is giving them some sleepless nights and I suspect they will
want to do their own regulation within 2 years to maintain their hold on the Federal Reserves.

So it's time to brace up for any eventuality and NOT to keep too much of ones assets in crypto.

There will always be some sort of regulation and I totally agree. But total regulation will never happen, private wallets will Never go away. P2P is way out of government control, it’s never going to get to that point where you ask Emeka for ID before you buy Bitcoins from him. The highest form of regulation will end at Exchanges like Binance and Co because they are financial institutions and must be licensed to operate legally.

Even before crypto money laundering and Terrorism financing has always been a thing. Cash is even more untraceable than crypto so the government is only concerned about tax evasion. But the trend of poor countries cracking down on crypto while developed countries regulate and innovate shows why we will always remain poor. They see something we don’t.
