Matthew 7:11
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him

In SW nigeria, we have the weavers that make traditional clothing called 'Aso oke'. At the start of the design, everything looks in disarray. Strings are in every direction. To the unskilled eye, it may look unattractive. However after a few hours the actual design of the cloth starts to showcase the wisdom of the weaver.

This is the way it is when we see life from our side. The heavenly Weaver does not show us the finished design of His will; He has His own good purpose. All the struggles and trials and temptations we have to go through seem to be such a riddle. When we see God's finished product, His purpose on the end, then we see the beauty of every stitch that wove the fabric of our life.

Sometimes we may not get an immediate response to our prayer. Why? Because an immediate answer may not always be a good gift. It is not like flipping on a light switch and there is the Lord. He does not answer when it is not wise. JAM 1:16-18 says,

"So don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession">

You see, from God comes prefection because he is prefect. We are evil, but we know how to give good gifts to our children. See how much more our heavenly Father, because of His perfection, gives good and perfect gifts. Why? Because he chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. We must understand that God wants us to understand his true word, which is for our greater benefit.

God's good gifts are not always a matter of prosperity; they are more likely to be seen in His correction and discipline. Many people prosper in this world; they have tremendous wealth, but that is not always where we see His good gifts. We must also look at His correction and discipline to see His good gifts.

Job 12:6
""The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly." "

Why?

They have received their portion in this life. They are wicked, thieves, and robbers, and yet they seem so secure. We must understand that prosperity in this world is not a sure token of God's favor. The parable of the rich man teaches this principle in Luke 16:25

"But Abraham said to him, "Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he ishere being comforted, and you are in anguish"

Prosperity by itself is not a good gift. it is easy to gain the world, but lose your soul.

1 Tim 6:8-10
So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pieced themsleves with many sorrows.

CONCLUSION

Ain't nothing bad with a Christian prospering. But when a believer starts to put more emphasis on prosperity/wealth, what will happen when God tells you to give away all the wealth and follow him.

Food of thought eh?

God bless wink
