Video editing = wider opportunities, you can be self employed. No limit to what you can do.


Sound engineering = limited opportunities. Must rely on clients even when you are self employed.

you can easily pivot to sound engineering at a later time because as a video editor you'll have to learn some basic audio editing techniques like noise reduction, compression, normalization, EQ, etc,. to make better videos.

once you have a solid understanding of these basics, you can easily make the switch to sound engineering.

note: i used the word "easily" in relative terms, sound engineering has its own distinct learning curve.
