Good day, Fellas. I saw this pics on fb, so i decided to post it here to hear ur views. Why did the prisoner choose the bread instead of the key?

In my opinion, I think the illustration clearly depicts man's selfish quest to fill his belly than emancipating himself from mental slavery which gives rise to growth and advancement.

Because there is no freedom for him outside anyways... I mean, if he got the key and set himself free, he won't get such free bread outside tomorrow. So no need to get the key.
So, he should eat the bread and remain in prison?

Judging by the alignment of the door to the frame, the prison door is already open. So, my guess is, he is not locked up or in need of getting out but starving.
