Vincent Kompany was subjected to vile racist abuse as he took charge of Anderlecht in their 2-2 draw with Club Brugge on Sunday.

The former Manchester City captain delivered a damning indictment on the state of racism in the country by revealing that his members of staff and players were also targeted.

There is understandably a tremendous amount of anger at the relative inaction to combat what is now a widespread problem across our game, and Kompany's compatriot, Romelu Lukaku, came out in support of Kompany.

Chelsea's striker took to Instagram and blasted the Belgian Pro League for their inaction in tackling the issue, and said: "@proleague I hope you will take action now. An icon like Vincent Kompany being scolded for his dark skin... enough is enough. Bleep you and your hashtags. Take some real action."
Lukaku has repeatedly spoken out against racism in his career, and been subjected to racist abuse himself on numerous occasions.

Monkey chants have previously been directed at the Belgian forward after he scored for Inter Milan against Cagliari, amid a raft of unsavoury abuse that has been directed at black players in recent years.
