CLEAN UP ABEOKUTA NORTH, AYORINDE CHARGES WASTE COLLECTORS The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Prince Adebayo Ayorinde has appealed to waste management collectors in the local government to upgrade the standard of their waste management and keep the local government clean. Ayorinde made the appeal when he received a team of Private Sector Participants (PSPs) from Ogun state Waste Management Agency (OGWAMA), Abeokuta Zone in his Akomoje office. The Council Chairman who decried the dirty condition of the local government, disclosed that poor waste management had resulted in diseases and health complications for residents of the local government. He said "Abeokuta North is dirty and I would hold you responsible for that. I want to charge you to get Abeokuta North clean in the next few weeks, especially during this festive season. Evacuate waste and help keep our environment clean. Let's upgrade our services please. We don't want our people to keep complaining about your services. Do your jobs properly." Responding, the Zonal Manager, OGWAMA, Abeokuta Zone, Mr. Timothy Komolafe who spoke on behalf of the waste collectors, appealed for support from the local government in the enforcement of Toilet facilities in residential areas, as well as putting a stop to open defecation which is causing disease outbreak. He also assured that there would be significant improvement in their service delivery. Director, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Abeokuta North, Prince Shodeke Ademola said the Local government would continue to work alongside OGWAMA to have an "effective and efficient integrated waste management system" e-Signed: Femi Peters Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North LG
