Not sure if this one is meaningless but I would like to make a few points and corrections . It is not just us and this name thing is somehow not sure if to describe it as a plague.

So the Chinese have been doing foreign first names for years that is why you see names like Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Michelle Yeow and them plenty. I don't know about the Arabs i.e if they go for names in their ethnic language or not but I know in Africa a lot of people with Arabic names don't have names in their own ethnic language. Today lots of Germans bear English or French first names and German surnames.

I prefer names in my language or any ethnic group the person comes from. Even if the name is Biblical.

The people you just mentioned gave themselves that name to be easily called or pronounced by the americans because of the industry they are in ...they needed a name that is short and easy to pronounce more over its not only in them that bears such short names even in nollywood our actors and actresses bears such short names...all the same I've stopped answering my English name for long...if any pastor or priest no gree baptize my pikin with him original name then Bleep the baptism.

How can someone just tell me that someone's name is better than a name in my language cos of the live the person lived when I was not there to confirm. Still a catholic till tomorrow but some norms will definitely not fly for me again.
