The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that there will be free train rides for citizens in Nigeria from December 24th 2021 to January 4th 2022.
In an interview with the news agency of Nigeria, the Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria disclosed this information in Abuja on Friday.
He said
"The decision which was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, is to ease movement of people during the yuletide.
"This is to help ease the cost of transportation and enable citizens move easily and enjoy the festive period.
"Passengers are however, adviced to ensure they obtain their tickets from appropriate quarters at no cost, to enable them gain access to enter the train.
"All passengers are also enjoined to observe and obey COVID-19 rules, by wearing of face mask, washing and sanitising of hands.
